I've never had the greatest success with XLD getting track names. So far it seems that pretty much the only it might work is if I open iTunes first and allow iTunes to get the names. I then have to go to File>Open Audio CD and hopefully it'll show up but even that's not a given. As far as I can tell all the relevant ports etc are open...iTunes gets names fine. Is there any thing I should be looking for as otherwise XLD is a fantastic too for me.

Recently I often have to close the app and reopen it/detect gaps again. It seems like it freezes the first time. But it does get the track names the second time (so it's not a real problem for me.) Is this also your experience? I can post screenshots of my settings tomorrow if you think that may help you. There are others here far more knowledgable that hopefully will read this and provide much better help.

If you could that would be great. Often too the cd will grab the times of tracks but the tracks will still be labelled 'Track 1' etc. I'll keep experimenting and see what I can come up with. Surely we aren't the only ones having these kind of issues? Actually I hope so as that may mean there's a simple solution
I am running the same version of XLD as you though it is under OS X 10.7.1 and so far, I am not encountering any track ID issues. XLD has been able to effectively go online and lookup the track names for all of the albums that it has ripped (about 20 or so) except for one (which was a new, small release that iTunes itself couldn't even find). The only issue I have had with XLD is its somewhat spotty support of cue files. I can have a group of FLAC files with a single cue file and XLD won't be able to open it about 1/8th of the time no matter what I do.
Still some cds just won't get any data, despite it being open and visible in iTunes. I get a 'Not found in CDDB' message. Other times I get the same message at the same time as the datda actually showing up...go figure.

I'm on OS X Lion as kornchild2002 is. I don't think it should matter at all if you're running Snow Leopard. (Great OS, IMO.) Check to see if the "Server," "Port," and "Path" fields are identical to mine. You could also experiment with that "Automatically Connect to CDDB" setting at the bottom of the preference pane.
You know who really knows their stuff on XLD? Billytheonion and mixminus1. Hopefully they will see the thread and have far better insight. I'm still fairly new to Macintosh.

@sarukichi: Yes, double-check your freeDB settings, and also check the "Automatically connect to CDDB" option.
I very rarely have problems with XLD retrieving CD info - in fact, I'd say 90+% of the time there are multiple matches from freeDB and/or MusicBrainz...really can't remember the last time I got a "Not found in CDDB" message, but then, I'm not much into things like live bootlegs or rare/underground releases.
Under the Preferences tab make sure the boxes titled "Automatically Add Tags If Possible" and "Edit Tags Before Convert" are checked.
Also, when I don't have a connection to the internet I get the "Not found in CDDB" message. Are you on a wireless connection that may be cutting out?
Thanks Engelsstaub. Yes my settings are the same, I believe they'r e the defaults. I also tried a diff. port etc but no joy. 'Automatically connect' is also checked.
After some experimenting it seems I don't need iTunes open to get it to work when it does work, as I said though, there are still times when XLD will come up with nothing but iTunes is sitting next to it with all the track names for the same cd < I think that is my basic issue really.
I am on a wireless connection but it's stable and as I said, iTunes gets the same information w/out problem.

Well, well. Having a dig around and found that 'Use Proxy' was enabled....Steve only knows why. Anyway, iTunes off, Proxy off and all seems to be going OK. I even set up an Amazon acct. and after a fiddle discovered that you need to double click the 'No Image' box to get them to appear. So, so far things seem to be going swimmingly well with the mrs' huge cd backup project profile I made, hopefully the joy will contine post-restart and under a diff. profile. Either way, learnt a fair bit of new about this amazing app.!
