Audio Hardware / Re: Looking for Media Player appliance as separate HW with specific properties.

I have no personal experience with streamers as I don't need them. I use direct playback.

Almost any HiFi brand have them at of course HiFi prices.
Basically any silent PC will do.
Popular solutions are a Raspberry Pi with a hat or an external DAC
Out of the box, WiiM is a affordable solution:

There is a report of a regression in comparison to foo_midi v2.7.3 when used with VSTi: the vsthost32.exe doesn't close when playback of a track is over, so if a few tracks were played, a few vsthost32.exe are left running unused until foobar2000 is closed.
I'll look in to it.
Fixed in next version. Thanks for the report.

The album covers show up for me when I use "Shuffle All Albums" or "Shuffle All Tracks".
For "Shuffle All Albums" they only show up once for the first title of the album, which is intended.

Are all songs stored on your smartphone or are some probably on a FTP source?

I just upgraded from 1.7.5 to 1.8.0. All of the recent changes are great. The menu reorganisation is a big improvement, I like having a comma in the playlist stats (I had wondered about that but it seemed too nitpicky to bring up :P), I like being able to hide the header and I like the other icons for help/up down arrows/etc. being removed. Feels cleaner and more like plorg now. Great work.

I am holding off on updating to 1.8.1 because:

- Double click a playlist will automatically play the first item of the playlist (if any)

I already have the Open Playlist setting as Double-click (so that I'm not opening large playlists when single-click & drag/reorganising), does this change introduce a conflict where I won't be able to open a playlist without playing a song? I wouldn't ever use this feature personally, but fine if it's an option for people.

What you are looking for is called a streamer.
UPnP/DLNA is supported by almost any modern receiver.
Gapless might be an issue as not all DLNA implementations support this.

The Bubbleupnp local renderer does gapless perfectly when playing music from my local Serviio 2.3 DLNA/UPnP server.
So it seems my DLNA server is capable of doing whatever it is the server must do to enable gapless playback.

In foobar can you right click one of those tracks and choose properties, click the details tab and post a screenshot of just the general section.

According to the HDtracks website they distribute 88/24, 96/24, 176/24, or 192/24, no mention of 32bit.

Incredible job, nostalgia for Winamp hit me hard man, thank you so much for porting the plugin to foobar2000! I'd say the experience is even better as foobar2000 has Windows theme support meaning I can dock side to side with another.

Yes! Thank you, Pyr. We're definitely on the right track. I renamed the picture files to "cover.jpg" in each folder, and for the most part, they show up now.

While the albums display in album view, and while I can see the photo attached to the individual songs inside of the album itself, they aren't showing up for some when I hit Shuffle. Any idea why?

We're definitely a lot further along than we were before, but I'm still a little stuck here. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Audacity and VLC displays 192Khz 32bit and foobar2000 displays 192Khz 24bit.
I know the files are 192Khz 32bit since I have D/L them from hdtracks as such.
