Multiplex UIE's in one single panel

Hi all,

What I'd like to have is a way to multiplex panels in the same space. For instance, take a look at my layout here. It would be nice if the Trackinfo panel have 2 tabs, so I can switch to viewing trackinfo or lyrics without consuming the precious space.

If there is not, is it doable? If so I may fiddle a bit... can you point me to how to create UIE plugins?

Thanks.

Theres a componant to do exactly what you want called foo_uie_tabs, unfortunatly it hasnt been ported to 0.9 yet.

Heres a link to the thread.

Theres no point in asking for it to be ported as it has been asked too many times.  The best thing to do is either be patient or have a go at creating your own componant or porting it yourself. (I wouldnt have a clue where to start in order to do that).

Heres a link to the source code

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if foo_uie_tabs has been officially abandonded or is just a matter of being patient. I too have been waiting for this to be ported to 0.9.x and have considered trying to teach myself the sdk with it but I wouldnt want to do all that work just to find out the original author is already porting it.

this is awsome.  Just out of interest, has this been around for a while and just hiding, or has it just been ported recently.  Thankyou for this componant. It is greatly appreciated.

Yeeehaw! Whoa, talking about wishes being granted within one day

I guess I'll start wishing for a sack containing $1 million to be dropped on my front porch

So many people wait and wish eagerly for foo_uie_tabs and someone just comes and ports it just. like. this.
That's great! Thank you!

EDIT: I'd have some wishes btw. If possible it would be nice if the tab's captions could be configured through the caption property of the nested panels. For example, if I would use the custom title Artist art one the Album art panel, the tab caption would be shown as Artist art instead of Album art.

I waited so long for this to get ported I'm biting my tongue on the few quirks and enjoying what I have.  If you would like to change the name on a tab, right click on the tab and pick "Rename Tab". In fact there are a few options only available from the right click menu like moving the tabs to the bottom, adding another tab on-the-fly, etc.

Thanks for porting it.

I saw in columns UI I can use a custom name for the tabber but not for the panels inside

Is it too much asking for the ability to rename the single panels we put into the tab?

Thanks again.

In the foobar2000 window, right click on the tab and chose "Rename tab".

Being able to chose a custom title in the layout preferences might be more convenient though.

Edit: Many thanks to tanka.

Has anyone had any success using splitters inside a tab? Each tab appears to only handle objects 1 level deep. (i.e.: can see the tabs for playlist tabs but not it's playlist, can see a vertical or horizontal splitter but not any panels added on the splitter)
