Title: CELT 0.6.0 is out
Post by: jmvalin on 2009-07-06 02:40:02
I'd like to announce version 0.6.0 (http://www.celt-codec.org/downloads/) of CELT, a very low delay audio codec for high-quality VoIP. This release includes many quality improvements, including better stereo coupling, better handling of transients, and better handling of highly tonal signals. In addition, packet loss robustness has been improved through the optional use of independent (intra) frames. CELT now supports a larger dynamic range, suitable for encoding 24-bit audio (float version only). There is also a very early VBR implementation. Note that 0.6.0 is not bit-stream compatible with older releases.

Hmm, maybe update  samples page (http://www.celt-codec.org/samples/tasl/) with samples made with 0.6.0... Currently, there are samples made with 0.3.2.

Just to let everyone know that 0.6.1 is out. The main change is some improvements to the stereo code. Get it from the usual place.

So the plan is embedding this into devices?

No more or less than any other codec.

There are already some embedded uses of pre-final CELT.
