I have obviously missed something, and in particular this

I also cleaned up the rightclick menu.
Wait. How?!
See attachment.

Items in the context menu you deactivated, won't show up on a rightclick. Unless you rightclick while holding SHIFT, then all context menus including the disabled ones magically reappear.

Forgot to tell you in the previous post. The only thing that TPS does not do in a scan including all that stuff is writing the physical DR logfile. It does calculate and write DR tags though.

So if you really need the physical DR file as well you still need to do a separate foo_dr_meter scan. Which is quite unfortunate.

... also, I have tried playing about with the "Halve output" setting but I can't hear any
differences between them...

Am I right in thinking that there is no way to turn the decoding on and off ? (I mean without
actually installing and un-installing the component)

Try this. It's the last 12 seconds from Reference Recordings' HDCD sampler vol 2, 1995.
If you scan it, you should get a gain value of -4.0 and Peak Extension and Transient Filter should both be "Intermittent" (which is because I cut it so near the end).

If you go into the Advanced preferences and then under HDCD decoder, set "Halve output volume" to "Only if peak extension is enabled", then upon playback you should hear a louder split second and then it will attenuate 6 dB. That's because it finds the few Peak Extension packets at the beginning.

If you have ffmpeg installed, you can try to read the output from this command to see what is going on:
ffmpeg -loglevel verbose -i 12secHDCD.flac -af hdcd -c:a pcm_s24le -f wav NUL
(Replace NUL by a filename if you actually want it decoded. You probably don't.)
CD Hardware/Software / Re: Powering external disc drive

Hopefully I answered my own question.

I found a picture of a similar drive, with one of the small slots that looks like a mini usb
labelled as "power" and I have a usb lead that fits...

so I guess it's suck it and see

Just downloaded Foobar after seeing it finally got component functionality. Here's a list I'm seeing of major things missing (feel free to educate me if these do exist):

1- Edit Metadata in playlist view. Available in the Windows version under Prefs > Display > Columns UI > Playlist View > Allow mouse activated inline editing. This is a huge one since it's essentially impossible to easily and quickly tag metadata otherwise.

2- Assign default keys to media control features. By default, every music player out there has the following keys mapped:
Play/pause: Space
Next track: Right arrow
Previous track: Left arrow

3- Additional built-in column options: Composer, Album Artist (Not Artist/Album), Sample Rate, Year, Comment

4- Repeat and Shuffle buttons on the main toolbar next to the other controls instead of just a drop down menu in the upper right

5- Changing font size for playlist. Available in the Windows version under Prefs > Display > Columns UI > Colors & Fonts

6- Playing icon doesn't clear itself if playing another song below it, it leaves "ghosts" of itself. Only way to remove them is to select that played track which clears it.

Hi, this is a great component and it has really come a long way since you started development!

One small request / question since perhaps I missed a setting that already does what I'm looking for:
Is there a way to choose where in the DSP chain the analysis happens? I would love to have the analysis happen before application  of any DSPs in the chain as a configurable behavior.
