What are Lancer versions of the Vorbis encoder?

I am aware about the Lancer modified versions of the Vorbis codec, which in addition to the aoTuv patches, aim to improve upon the reference encoder. aoTuv is a quality enhancement aiming to improve sound quality, whilst the Lancer is intended to improve the performance.

However, is there any effect of the Lancer version on the sound quality as well? I have read in some places that Lancer outright swaps some core functions of the encoder, does this mean Lancer effects the sound as well?

If so, is Vorbis + aoTuv + Lancer better than Vorbis + aoTuv in terms of sound quality? Performance/Speed doesn't matter to me as long as the audio quality is better.

Thanks.
