Using Headphone with Digital Output

Ermm, I was always sure that people using amp in order to improve sound quality (some very low/high tones are being heard better). I don't think I'll have any noise over Optical Cable? therefore I'm guessing I wont be needing it if my TV indeed control the PCM output?

Is the extra 40$ is worth it? Am I'm going to hear any difference with my headphones? or I would need better headphones to fully enjoy it?

You can test Dolby Headphone with foobar2000 and Power DVD and decide if you like it.

Really?
I didn't know that. Would that be the plugin?

I did some google search and found that:

If that's what he can do, it's pretty impressive. I could actually feel the matchbox moving around my ears.

This is not Dolby Headphone. This is a binaural recording.  You see this video very often mentioned with DH but it was  recorded with a selfmade dummy head.

For a demo you should look at this:

Can you hear the footsteps going around you?

That's right, that video is not DH, the uploader is a liar (and a thief). And the fact that so many websites link that video is another piece of misinformation about what I said earlier that most people really don't understand what DH is supposed to do and what it doesn't do. That matchbox sample recording has been doing the rounds on the internet for years, but I don't have the actual source right now.

The principle is the same, but DH doesn't have the benefit of special microphones for recording. It only has 5 sources of audio, which are the 5 speakers. From that, it will attempt to virtualize each point. It won't work as well as the binaural recordings simply cause it doesn't have all the sound information to start with.

Oh. It did sound too good to be true

Well, using the link musicreo supplied, I did was able to hear the food steps around me. It was not detailed as the fake Binary, but still quite good. On the other videos though, It seems like the effect gives you an 'echo' effect more then a real depth...

What about this one:

Also a fake? Sound better then the Website demo..

That's a Monster Cable website, so I don't think they'd have a fake video.

Well, It's differently seems like a nice addition. Well, I'm leaving in Europe area - all left to do now, is to find a place that is selling the EarForce DS and willing to ship to my country :-)
Thanks a lot everyone!

Ermm, It seems like Beach Turtle are not common where I live (Europe). The price in Amazon.com is around 69$, but it's around the same on Euro and very rare (very expensive).
Beach Turtle is just one one company doing Dolby Headphones. Any other product that might have more availability (and still the same price?)
