Problem in 1.3.9 beta 4: fhgaacenc doesn't work in some cases

After updating to 1.3.9b4, I found a problem when converting my files to aac like below.

This problem occurs only when any pre-processing is employed (e.g. replaygain, resampler, etc.).
Presumably no problems with other encoders.

I couldn't replicate the issue. I tried using both ReplayGain processing and Resampler at the same time. Could you see what error code you get with this newer test version of fhgaacenc:

What version of fhgaacenc do you use? Made by tmkk or from fb2k encoder pack?

|vqc|: I use one made by tmkk. After I encountered this issue, I also tested that included in the fb2k encoder pack, but the same result. The test version uploaded by Case works very well.

Case: The newer test version does not produce any problem in 1.3.9b4. Thx for uploading.

Hi, I seem to have the same code error as Joungmin. I have been using the foobar2000 free encoder pack 2015-10-14 and foobar 1.3.8. I also did not use any post processing, though I have tried after and the code still shows.  The test version supplied by Case has worked but I thought I'd mention the problem with the encoder pack. Here is the foobar output after the conversion.

Are you sure you are using the encoder from the latest Free Encoder Pack? It was installed in foobar2000\encoders dir and your path is something else. Also it will return error code 0 only if encoding worked succesfully or it's started without parameters where it prints help text.

You can check the fhgaacenc version by running it in command prompt without parameters. It will print the version string on top of the usage info. The latest and greatest will print "fhgaacenc version 20120624 by tmkk. Modified by Case 20151011." A quick check of the size of C:\Users\Phil\Music\Tools\fhgaacenc-fooenc\fhgaacenc.exe will also be enough. If the file isn't 22 KB in size it isn't from the latest pack.

Note that if you do copy the encoder binaries around please copy the nsutil.dll file too. It allows the FhG encoder to get 32-bit floating point data so you don't have to worry about source files clipping.

I have extracted the fhgaacenc.exe and nsutil.dll from the pack.exe to my own directory using 7-zip so I can keep track of all the encoders I have. I thought this might have been a problem so I installed it to the default foobar dir and same error came up. I have checked the file size, it is 22 KB. Oh i also copied libmp4v2.dll and enc_fhgaac.dll as normal. I have noticed I did not have this problem with the previous encoder pack.

I can't replicate scenario where encoding would fail. I have tested Windows versions from XP to 10 and both installed Winamp instance and putting the required dlls in the encoder dir. Would you be so kind to generate a Process Monitor log of this problem? Please compress the log with zip, 7-zip or rar before uploading to make it smaller. It should be enough to limit the log to foobar2000 and all its sub-processes.

Thanks for the log. Unfortunately it has info only from foobar2000, not from any of the child processes. Easiest way to include all that info is to use Tools menu, click Process Tree, select foobar2000 and click Include Subtree.

I am pleased to say that your new build has fixed the errors that I have experienced before! However I am getting a new error, it seems to only happen every other third or fourth conversion and would only happen to a couple songs. It is the "Object not found" error. I have pasted the log that shows the 27th silent track being affected, while the other time the 60th silent track was affected.

Interesting find. Those one second long tracks get encoded so fast that the temporary file used with enc_fhgaac.dll gets taken by another encoder instance when the first one deletes it temporarily. Attached version is free from this problem.

First I want to thank you for maintaining the fhgaacencoder. Would it be possible to make your version of fhgaacenc available at RareWares ?. I assume you have posted the latest version in this thread. There is also another thread where you have posted several version of fhgaacenc.
Hosting fhgaacenc at RareWares would simplify getting the latest version instead of searching through multiple threads.

I have a question on fhgaacenc and did not want to start a new topic, so I've piggy-backed onto this one.

fhgaacenc adds two tags to an encoded file: 'object description' and 'scene description'.  Is there a command line
switch to suppress these two tags, which don't get generated with either qaac or fdkaac?  Here is the MediaInfo info

fhgaacenc is just a frontend to the FhG encoder bundled with Winamp. The MP4 file and any tags in it are created by enc_fhgaac.dll. What is the problem with the extra information in the file?
