Need help w/EAC 1.6 and Lame 3.100.1 Not compressing and converting WAV to MP3

This combination worked fine for me on Windows 10, but when I upgraded to Windows 11, they don’t. EAC rips the audio books properly, but I cannot get compression and conversion to an mp3 file format.
Compression screen has:



No mp3 conversion and wave appears untouched
On windows 10, I could see the temporary file created and compressed - now I see nothing

Any suggestions?

I cannot see the full window so I cannot tell if 'Check for external programs return code' is checked so should I assume 'yes' and no error window popped up?

How do you initiate the rip? (Specific button on main window, specific selection from 'Action' menu, or specific keyboard shortcut)

Duplicated everything you provided so far with no issue encoding to mp3. Windows 11 Pro 22H2, EAC v1.6, LAME 3.100.1

- check that lame.exe is actually there
- create portable eac install; copy eac folder to your userprofile and run from there.

Hi Folks,,

Thanks for replying.

Lame works fine if I am on my local disk drive.  It is the network share that I am struggling with, and MS has removed the simplicity of Windows 10 sharing, or I cannot find it.

I have changed the permissions of all the .exes in the EAC folder, and that did not help.

I ran EAC as administrator and that did not help either.

I have yet to find a way to change the network drives sharing permissions like I had under Windows 10.

Does the network share have a drive letter? I'm not sure LAME can work with network shares that aren't assigned to drive letters.

Hi,

Network drives are mapped, but I am thinking that EAC is the only current example of an (non system) executable which invokes another executable. The following is what I see when I try and change the folder permissions.

On the server check both NTFS and Share permissions. Set both (everybody) = full control for
troubleshooting.

I saved the path in case I have to visit this issue again:
Settings > network & internet > advanced network sharing > advanced sharing settings > all networks > Public folder sharing (turn on)
