How to change the default sort order in Playlist view (default UI)?

I have a field called %albumartistsortorder% that I've populated with album artists' last names first (like Marley, Bob and Beatles, The) so I can sort album artists by their last name.

This works well in ReFacets and Coverflow and if I add a custom column to Playlist view and click the column header.

But I'm trying to change the default sort method in Playlist view (Library Viewer Selection) so I don't have to click the Album Artist Sort Order column header.

It currently seems to sort by file path, but I'd like it to sort by %albumartistsortorder%.

How can I change the default sort order in Playlist view?

Thanks.

You have to add the field to the Library Viewer sorting preferences / view pattern.

In the case of ReFacets, there is none yet to my knowledge - most probably an oversight by our developer. I might have to check the latest beta though. Does it work if you add the %albumartistsortorder% field to Preferences > Shell Integration > 'Sort incoming files by...' ? (perhaps ReFacets is inheriting that setting)

I'm OK with ReFacets because a really helpful person over on Reddit explained how to have a hidden column sorted by %albumartistsortorder%. It works brilliantly. Basically this: https://www.reddit.com/r/foobar2000/comments/ca573k/sort_prefixes_and_dont_hide_them/et65tki/

EDIT: Actually, your solution is even better. I just undid the hidden column trick and yes, adding the %albumartistsortorder% field to Preferences > Shell Integration > 'Sort incoming files by...' does make ReFacets sort by that field. That's excellent thanks.

And Coverflow is perfect too. It was as simple as doing this: https://i.imgur.com/rzep88R.png. So all the album art is sorted by the album artist's last name. (This is a bit of the 'B' section - https://i.imgur.com/NO2YM4v.png - which before was listed under "The Beatles", "The Bee Gees" and "George Benson").

I would just like to sort the Playlist view so The Allman Brothers are listed under A not T: https://i.imgur.com/7iDjkPj.png. (Adding the %albumartistsortorder% field to Preferences > Shell Integration > 'Sort incoming files by...' doesn't have any effect on the Playlist Viewer.)

You have to add the field to the Library Viewer sorting preferences / view pattern.
I don't know how to do that to change the way the Playlist Viewer sorts? But from your post in the other thread ...

Playlist Viewer can only do manual sorting. Default / automatic sorting is done by the Library Viewer settings like the ones above.
it looks like it isn't possible. Is that right?

It seems like it should be quite an easy thing to do? Somehow it is set to sort by file path at the moment. I just want to override that.

Thanks a lot for replying. Very kind of you. 👍
