"Play in foobar2000"/"Enqueue in foobar2000" available for folder but not files

When I right click on a folder that is optimized for type "General" (right click on folder, click "Properties", click the "Customize" tab, then select "General Items" from the pulldown menu), I have "Play in foobar2000" and "Enqueue in foobar2000" options available when I right-click the folder in windows explorer.

I do not have these options available when I right click one or more audio files in Windows Explorer.

How do I get the shell integrations to work for individual audio files?

NOTE: the "optimize for type general" is required to get the foobar2000 context menu options to appear for folders when Windows Media Player is installed and its shell extensions are also active.
