foobar2000 mobile / Re: Report a whole track album playback bug V1.4
Last post by yisisixu -
Perhaps the problem is Android 4.1 itself.
I just tested Android 4.2 tablet and got crashes on startup due to unresolved symbols before even running my code.
Downgrading compiler from NDK 25 to NDK 23 fixed it for the next build.

We will celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day tomorrow.
holiday for eight days, :)
I plan to upgrade to the latest version.

My biggest pain is that add everone CUE files TO one playlist . albums more than twenty,  i will rebuild playlist if software crash.
this method has complicated steps and will take very long time.
It's wonderful process to playlist if achieved fast add (eg.Right click the CUE file identify INDEX.)

The above statement is a bit contradictory, but I don't know how to express it.
Thanks again.

General Audio / Re: Why do DSF files not sound as good as the SACDs they were made from?
Last post by bennetng -
I think you can contact Archimago, he has the Oppo UDP-205.
https://archimago.blogspot.com/2019/01/measurements-oppo-udp-205-dsd-playback.html

FWIW his DSD results are not bad enough to cause audible difference.

Since it is not feasible to burn your own test signal SACD, when recording the analog output of the player, you can only capture a snapshot of the two playback methods. For example, if for some reasons an unstable firmware caused difference at the moment you captured the files, then you are always listening to the same snapshot. So perhaps you can try to make more snapshots, or switch playback order of disc vs file, power cycle and recapture etc, so you can have more snapshots to experiment with.

You can share the captured files with Archimago too, he should have more tools to analyze the files. As an owner, he is also more familiar with the features of the hardware than the rest of us too.

FLAC / Re: FLAC v1.4.x Performance Tests

Yes, either file size or encoding speed, depends on which is more important for individual users. I am happy to get 14x faster encoding time at the expense of slightly bigger files due to the cost of disk space nowadays, and I often don't like to use settings which may significantly slowdown decoding time too.

What software did you used, and is it a plugin for Foobar? I use Spek, but it's colors are less noticeable than yours, as you can see by my Multistage FLAC spectrum, specially the ultrasonic noise:

Whenever possible I often try to reduce the color depth to 8-bit when attaching PNGs. The problem is the very colorful SoX spectrograms are already 8-bit by default, but the graphical complexity still resulted in a rather big file size so I just posted them as thumbnails.

Support - (fb2k) / Re: Updating from older Portable Foobar 2000

Hi Sveakul,

Thanks so much for explaining all that even though there is lots to search from. Yea looks like I had the portable folder in the Program Files (x86) so moving it to the C: dir let the installer give me the choice of Portable upgrade. Seemed to have worked fine except one old component that was not needed anymore.

And for the component I wanted to add I just went into the Component settings page and clicked install and found the .component file.

Thanks again!

I already posted some 30 seconds classical music audio files and plots in Reply #26 above, so you can check them out if desired. Perhaps you can do some ABX tests too.
I tried to ABX them in foobar, but they all sounded each other transparent to me while I was pressing A and B, so I didn't bother voting  in which sounded better, because it would average at 50% of wild guesses .

I noticed that while the lossless -1dB@25kHz puts low volume ultrasonics up until 45KHz, the lossless Multistage puts a lot more dB ultrasonics in that area. Also interesting is that the lossy Vorbis Multistage out of the blue adds some strange ultrasonics from 40Khz up, in the last 5 seconds, that clearly shouldn't be there.

CD Hardware/Software / Re: EAC crashes on error - secure vs. burst mode?
Last post by JimLS -
EAC options > General > Disable 'CD Autostart' for audio and data CDs while EAC running > enabled

That box is already checked.  Maybe some other setting causing the issue with kicking out the cd?  Doesn't seem to be a problem changing the cd after the first one.
