>rubyripper-0.4.2-r1 problem

I'm having a problem with rubyripper-0.4.4 and 0.5.0 where it doesn't report any errors but won't rip about half of the CDs I try.  It either hangs at the beginning or goes through the whole process but never writes any files.  0.4.2-r1 works perfectly.  I would just stick with that version but it doesn't allow a negative drive offset.

Any idea how to debug this?
