Migrating from Lyrics3 formatted tags

I recently purchased an iPod and found out that iTunes does not properly read the extended artist, track, and album information stored in Lyrics3 format. My entire music collection is formatted in Lyrics3, which works great in Foobar and Winamp. However, I want the full song information to display on my iPod's screen.

What options do I have to get these tags to work properly with iTunes and the iPod?

I figure I have to convert them to ID3v2, which I don't really want to do because that format is slow, but I'd be willing to do it. If that is the case, is there a program which can convert Lyrics3 formatted tags to ID3v2? If I use the iTunes "convert ID3 tag" option, will this only read the ID3v1 tag information and not the extended tag information from the Lyrics3 data?
