Evillyrics is a nice solution indeed. I've been using it for quite a while now and I doubt that a plugin would reach its perfecion in the next time. So it would maybe be best to just integrate Evillyrics within a Foobar-Tab.
EL is capable of providing the lyrics of the currently playing Song in a textfile. So a Plugin that just prints this file into a Tab would do.
Another - maybe better - solution would be a Plugin that searches EL's Lyrics-Cache (also Plain-Text-Format with a textfile for each song) for the currently playing Song and displays ist's Lyrics. This way Evillyrics didnt need to run and the Plugin could - at a later time easily be extended to be able to read from other DBs or maybe EL would become completely unnecessary one day.
Both solutions shouldn't be too difficult to do - but unfortunately i'm totally unskilled in programming. Any volunteers...?

Hmm seems free to me, you can just donate if you want. It's a little buggy when using multiple line style and aligning right. Also I'd rather have it not scrolling, but it's pretty nice using the the nothing on it skin

I've got it working. This is very nice. My only issue is that when it automatically obtains the lyrics online, the lyrics don't (agh i forgot what the word is--when it automatically inserts a cairrage return if the whole line can't be displayed.) and if you don't use the time stamps PLEASE SOMEBODY, TRANSLATE THIS TO ENGLISH!
It cuts off the last line if you don't use time stamps, and I can't figure out how to disable looking up the lyrics through the web.

yeah on the very last post of that thread it says something about version 2.3.0 in english (beta)--but the download link, in the second post of the thread, is still version 2.2.1. The english one just came out, so maybe give them a little bit of time to update the download link?

I think it's because the plugin doesn't have a good fuzzy match to the now playing song according to the artist & title tags. Minilyrics did a better job here.
The only solution now is manually associate the corresponding lyrics to the song.

I found the search option in my english version disabled too.
Agree to Cr4wford, bluenet should up load the plugin to forum and add a thread in the 3rd party development section for bug discussions and suggestions.
Besides, thanks bluenet for further developing such as good panel plugin.
The online search feature is in plan. If these is a free lyrics server like freedb I would like enable this feature.

it works quite well for me. searching lyrics isnt very perfect, but if i assoziate the file it works fine. didnt crash so far.

Do you guys experience high CPU usage when the plugin is searching for matching lyrics every time a new song is played? Maybe the database is a good approach.
Besides, this plugin seems to hang up my foobar (not really hangs, but utilize full CPU usage) if the lyrics going to be load consists very long lyrics in a line. However, minilyrics works ok for that lyrics.
I could only temperory turn off (put no lyrics search folder) this plugin now.
Anyone has the similar problem?

It behaves strange, not like LyricShow.
When there's a "gap" (empty lines with time) it just keeps scrolling.

Ya, that's the problem in old version (v0.2.3.1). Thanks for the update, the problem I previously encounter are most likey gone.
Besides, I would like to identify some bugs I notices in the new build (v0.2.3.1):
1. The function to copy the lyrics with/without tag is not working for lyrics with chinese simplified chars. When I try to paste it to a note pad, it shows tag with strange charactors. It's fine to copy non-chinese chars (ie. English lyrics are ok). Do I need special settings in foobar2000 in order to copy the tags with chinese chars correctly?
2. The lyrics shown are jerky (line moving up with noticable displacement gap) when changing to new the line. Can minimize the jumping gap?
3. Lastly to command here, it's a not always repeatable bug. I noticed the plugin sometimes highlight the "playing" text incorrectly. Even if the text is now singing in the song had scrolled to the center position, the previous text (far above center display) is still highlighted while the text suppose to be highlighted retains in dim. Most of the time, that text will be skipped and the highlight works again on the next few lines afterwards. It sometimes happen to line 5 and sometimes it happen to line 8 of the lyrics. Using the seek bar (jump) can also cause this happen quite often for me.
I expect some event detection/trigger to change the highlight text doesn't works well.
Overall, it search better than previous version now and handle lots of chars in a line. I can now re-enable this fantastic plugin again and I'll be waiting for a newer and smoother version.

Just a few things : I think there's a bug in the mousescroll : when I scroll up the lyrics go down and vice versa
A few requests : It's nice to have the playing lyrics (with timestamps) in the middle of the window, but not at the beginning and at the end (because one half of the screen is empty). So, to my mind, the lyrics should start at the top, then go down to the middle, and then go down, so that there's never empty space.
Another request : when not using timestamps, it would be nice to be able to use the following feature : a "smart" follow lyrics.
For example, if the song length is 3 minutes, and there are, say, 30 lines, the "smart follow lyrics" guess that on the whole, each line has a length of 6 seconds. Then the lyrics behave exactley as if there were timestamps (each of 6 seconds)
Of course it will never match exactly with the reality, but in most cases you would have the current lyrics in the window
Last question : how to use the online search ?
Last of the last ( ) : handle too long lines (for example display the end of the line on the next line, aligned on the right)
At last a working version !

Ever listen to their song, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"? Has about 12 minutes of instrumental music, and maybe a minute of vocals (lyrics). So yeahhh. If you do work on something like that, I hope you'd make it an option. But I don't feel it'd be worth your time anyways... Just focus on fixing the other issues. thanks a lot!

Just a quick thing, which I'm not sure if it has been mentioned:
I've had the lyrics panel show wrong lyrics for files which aren't tagged. On my machine, it puts up the lyrics for "Queen - we will rock you" on every file which is not tagged.

"smart lyrics" may have some problem, such as how to handle repeat lines? The best way is make a timestamp lyrics by foo_lyrics_maker.
Handle long lines I will plan to do, but if user align lyrics to right where can I display the wrap text?

Thanks for the update. I also downloaded the src of this plugin. However, when I am tyring to compile the src, some error occurs. "download.h" file is missing! I can't find it any where else from the extracted files. If you can upload the missing files on next update will be great!
Besides, I think the link to the column_ui SDK is now named as "shared" rather than the old one "ui_extension".

Wow! I just installed foo_uie_lyrics for the first time, 2.3.5, and I tried it with three songs and it worked perfectly! I had time synced these lyrics with WinLyrics for use in Winamp and they worked perfectly.
I can't tell you how happy I am. Thank you so much. I know that it is not perfect yet but, man-oh-man, this is exactly what I have been waiting for. Thanks again.

It sometimes works for me, more often not. I'm using Evillyrics and copying to tags from that which works alright.

I definitely second that: for right aligned lyrics I guess you can display the wrapped text left-aligned.
Another feature I need is the possibility to switch between currently playing and currently selected song lyrics: IOW, the equivalent of double-click/center-click of track info panel.

I think there's a bug in the search screen: when I right click the "lyric show" tab and do an "online search..." the artist field comes up blank on the search screen.
After manually typing in the artist name, and if the search yields no result (says: "found noting") and then when I click the "close" button, foobar hangs and sometime crashes.
Otherwise this is a great plug-in that I'm very happy to have and use. Great job Buenet!

Confirmed: happens here too. It works the opposite way of playlist scrolling.

When I play a song, sometimes thee lyrics field starts to "blink". I mean numbers (other that the ones above) change very quickly. I dont know how to say it in English. One changes into another and so on. Its like numbers in the bottom->numbers on top->botom->top->...

They're both serial key, the upper one seemes to be one for a chinese or japan game (I googled).
For the other one I couldn't get any results.

When I play a song, sometimes thee lyrics field starts to "blink". I mean numbers (other that the ones above) change very quickly. I dont know how to say it in English. One changes into another and so on. Its like numbers in the bottom->numbers on top->botom->top->...
They're both serial key, the upper one seemes to be one for a chinese or japan game (I googled).
For the other one I couldn't get any results.
Weird. The panel seems to display random serial keys

So would it be difficult to set up a small webpage with some lyrics, which can't be found by the panel and where users can add lyrics.

Wao... It will be nice if it allow us to customize the directory path. This is because most of the lyrics download from the internet are "Incorrect" and some amendments are required.
So, I wll save the all newly downloaded lyrics into a common folder. If I found the lyrics is correct, and I would like to make a copy of the lyric to the playing song's directory. If it allows so, the "correct" lyrics in that folder will be displayed rather than the incorrect one in the lyrics database folder.
So, I suggest the author to provide us additional option to make a copy of the lyrics to the playing song's directory (with same name as the playing song) if it is possible.

This plug-in is really great, I use it in combination with minilyrics (to find the .lrc files) and now, it is quite perfect all the quite well-known songs have their lyrics if I need them.
[request] Would it be possible to copy the text with the repetitions, because if we use copy without timestamps, the lines copied are only quoted once, while it may be used several times in the song.

I think there's a bug in the search screen: when I right click the "lyric show" tab and do an "online search..." the artist field comes up blank on the search screen.
After manually typing in the artist name, and if the search yields no result (says: "found noting") and then when I click the "close" button, foobar hangs and sometime crashes.

The server is pretty fast for me, and it growing rapidly. Unfortunately I prefer timestamped lyrics, but its better than nothing.
I also like the lyricshow plugin since it displays the textfiles i have in th folder if no lyricas are present. this works great for displaying tracklist.txt in the folders i have for my livesets

it's was not the idea. all lyrics(es) just do not have this information, and i have no idea really what it for . it's just small plugin for searching and downloading lyris. (and then writing 'em into tags!) i see some guy always rerequesting same lyrics... it's saved in the tags, so you can just see 'em in fie information...

what's great about all this, ALL lyrics-searching stuff is server-side. so i can update it from time to time transparently. that guessing engine, based on the title hashes, not on exact titles already on the fly. before that "artist ~ song (comment)" and "artist ~ song" were different, but now hash is the same ("song"). there are a lot of songs with comments in braces... smth else, different quantity of spaces for example... by the way, script cleans lyrics before saving to the database and kills stupid empty lines and a LOT of spaces, hate them especially at the end of lines.

Auto-wrap works now, though by-letter and not by-word (not a major issue).
Also short lyrics bug seems to be fixed.
But:
1) right-click context menu is unreadable (I assume chinese, as I only see bold vertical lines instead of "normal" characters)
2) Wheel scrolling is now behaving correctly but, if possible, it should stop scrolling when the end of lyrics is reached (now it scrolls until you only see the last two lines)
Finally, do you think you will add this option?
Another feature I need is the possibility to switch between currently playing and currently selected song lyrics: IOW, the equivalent of double-click/center-click of track info panel.

I have to say this lyrics plugin is really awesome. Especially as I'm the type of person who listens to songs without paying attention to lyrics sometimes.
But I have one burning question. How do I make Lyric DB and Lyric Show work together. If I just play the song it won't display the lyrics, I have to go click "search db" to get the lyrics. Do I have to manually add timestamps to them and save them for lyric-show to pick them up?

it's just different plugins. oversimplified explanation is: "lyricsdb is just not for timestamped lyrics, or for showing them. it's just for searching/saving/exporting lyrics to common db". you can download new version of the plugin and hotkey lyrics editor, or just edit your lyrics in file info, %lyrics% tag.

You can put all text files in a folder such as 'lyrics' and point search dir to this folder, plugins will search lyrics in this folder when you playing.

yep, there are artists smth like "...and smth else", you can use "*" as search pattern to chek them out, and i have really no idea how to select those artists from db correctly have never tryed anyway.
The lyrics editor is really handy, but when I hotkey it and press 'L' it will always load the lyrics of the playing song same which track I selected I would find it much more handy when it would load the lyrics of the selected track.

My problem is that the URL source you use isn't editable and doesn't have a lot of lyrics for english songs at least (and some of them are wrong)

For my understanding, lyrics panel will display the embeded lyrics (highest piority) if available or the lyrics found to match with the playing song in the same directory. If matching lyric is not found up to this stage, it will search within the pre-defined lyrics (database) folder.
Just wondering since it's embeded into the mp3 file, what's the point to duplicate additional file on the some directory?
For me, I intend to keep mp3 song clean (without lyrics tag in mp3 files), so I wish to save it to its directory rather searching from messy database.

True, I got your point now.
Then if make a copy of the lyrics option is available, then it should also consists of a auto-rename mechanism to match the name of playing song.
This is because I got a mp3 player too, it only reads lyrics with exact name with the mp3 songs (but with extension of *.lrc, of course. )
Now I got this plug in, and I have a few questions.
1. All I did was put the .dll file in components, is that all I have to do for install?
2. When the lyrics auto scroll, they dont more on the right speed. Is there any way to have just a scroll bar that I can operate and move as need be?
3. I have used Evil Lyrics for a long time, is there any way that I can have this plugin just search those for the correct lyrics insted of always doing an online search?
4. Also if you have it paneled, and that panel is not showing, it dosnt search for lyrics?

I store my lyrics files (.txt or .lrc) in the same directory as my music files (.mp3).
In a easy way, the name of the lyric file is exactly the same as the corresponding music file, not the extension (of course).
The lyric show panel works great (congratulation to Bluenet), and can retrieve the lyric file and display its content. But when the name has "specials" characters in it,
like :
` 39 Hex27 closing single quote (apostrophe)
( 40 Hex28 Opening parentheses
) 41 Hex29 Closing parentheses
and perhaps others characters, this plugin cannot retrieve the lyric's file.
have anybody encountered such a problem ?

Could there be a wordwrap in this except for letter wrap =P
My lyrics panel is rather small so words get truncated. Especially in some songs where the words are cut in halves almost at every linebreak.

Any chance of an english version, I instialled the new supposed english version and its all chinese...
Then you downloaded the wrong version, the english file is called foo_uie_lyrics_enu_0237.7z and is all english.

I just downloaded foo_uie_lyrics_enu_0237, and all it will do is display %artist% - %title% in the panel. I tried to use the Online Search feature with no success. It will populate the Artist and Title fields, but all it will do is say "Search Failed" when I click search.
Is there a place that I have to edit where it looks to search online?
I wish that there was a little more to the documentation to explain how to set this up.
i'm also having trouble getting it to show lyrics from an external file. foo_lyrics seems to work fine "out of the box" for this but maybe i'm missing something with the panels version. ideally i'd want it to look in the subdirectory "lyrics" of the current directory, but one step at a time. anyone able to help?

First i want to say how great this plugin is!!!
Yet there is still some little problems :
1. When you make a online search, it is different if you search for "cranberries", "cranberries, The" or "The cranberries". It would be really great even huge if there was not any difference(if possible)
2. It seems that there is a little bug. Sometimes when i download a lyric it apply to more than the playing songs. Sometimes it applies to the whole album and i don't know why
3. It seems that it is possible to do a research with only the title it would be great to be able to do the same with the artist.
4. When a download finish after the song change, the name is not correct, it takes the name of the second song with the lyrics of the first one

0237 causes extreme high peaks in CPU usage. Going back to 0236 solves the problem. Does anybody else experience the same thing?
Just a small feature request, don't know how difficult to add it would be. Was just wondering if it would be possible to allow for customization of the 'default' showing, since the standard "artist - title" formatting it does rarely fits in my window, causing an ugly off-screen wrap in both directions. I have many songs without lyrics (classical, jazz, etc) and rather than associate a "lyric" tag to them that worked better it would be nice to change the window's default to something like
[%artist%]
[%title%]
[%album%]
or somesuch.
This really is the plugin I looked for a while, fantastic!

I would like it to be possible to specify multiple directory's where Lyric Show Panel searches for lyrics. And this in a manner that first will be looked in directory x, if nothing is found will be looked in dir y, and so on. And finally, if nothing is found, a attempt to search online. Or another order, which can be configured. This because I use two directory's to store my lyrics.
The LyricShow(not panel) plugin of foobar has this functionality already.

You can adjust the "half a second" by yourself.
In the popup menu, "Adjust offset".
And a little suggestion to the author(You are likely to be a Chinese, and me too )

Okay someone help me please I can't seem to get this working to it's full potential.
I've got Mini lyrics installed and I'm using the Foobar UEI display panel. When the mini lyrics program is open it detects the song and displays it in it's own fram instantly. However the foobar one the lyrics don't appear. In foobar I've set the lyrics dir to the one mini lyrics uses and changed the lyrics format in foobar to the .lrc format but Foobar doesn't seem to display the downloaded lyrics from mini lyrics.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or provide easy instructions. I'd be very greatful for your help

One more thing: I tried to change the delay to "-2000". Entering the minus isn't allowed. You have to set it via the arrows.

This is a feature request or a question depending if what I wish to do is possible at the moment.
I'm using foo_uie_lyrics by bluenet and the latest columns ui for fb2k0.9. What I wish to have is a column that will show if the lyrics for the tracks are downloaded or not. I would be cool if foo_uie_lyrics made boolean field called %has_lyrics% or something similar.
What I want to achieve is a column that has a symbol. If the track has lyrics downloaded and associated then the symbol is lit up, if not then the symbol is just gray.
If this is not possible yet then please consider it as a feature to include... If anyone knows how to achieve what I wish using foo_uie_lyrics then please inform me how.
PS I have something like what I want for for replaygain, I also had the columns set u for foo_lyricsdb but I do not wish to use that plugin as I dont want to embed files. If my description is unclear I can post an image.

I use mini lyrics for foobar to search for lyrics and the panel for display. I then used foo_preview to play the first five seconds of all my tracks so as to download the lyrics for each track. Mini lyrics does a pretty good job of finding most of my lyrics. Also, it automatically downloads a .lrc file instead of a .txt file if one is available. I have all my lyrics stored within mp3 files. Can this plugin read Lyrics3 MP3 tag? For example, like Winamp Lyrics3 plugin (http://www.hiker.org.il/lyrics.htm).

I have some troubles with foo_uie_lyrics_v0300. Everytime I play a song without artist-tag or a wav-file foobar player crashes with runtime error. I doesn't get a crashreport.
Don't know if others experienced same problems...
For a Wave-File I found a little workaround: just have to add a new filter in Lyrics Show Panel settings
Name: *.wav
Value: %filename_ext%
But has someone a idea how to add a filter for a missing Artist-Tag???

the whole my life i used winamp, but with this plugin, fb2k is much better then winamp ).
foo_uie_lyrics is a key feature in my foobar config. But would it be possible to have "Online search", "Associate Lyrics", "Embed Lyrics", etc available in the Menu (not only right-clicking in the panel) ? Then I could add buttons on the toolbar for lyrics management, making it much easier.
In reply to vader897 from a previous post about adding a %has_lyrics% tag, I do manage without: I added a column named Lyrics and displaying "$if(%lyrics%,Y,N)". Simple and efficient.

I installed foo_uie_lyrics, and added the Lyrics Show panel to Columns UI. I have the lyrics on the right-hand side (yea!). I was pleased to find that it automatically found my .txt files that I have in my music directories, so the lyrics show up automatically (I have lyrics3 tags; I've been trying for a while to find something that would convert lyrics3 tags to id3 lyrics tags, or a perl module that would let me do it, but I haven't found anything yet).
It took me a bit to find how to configure it (since the Configure button is greyed out on the Panel), but I finally found it in the Tools (shortly after I posted the original version of this message ).
The problem I'm encountering is that I have songs with lyrics that are longer than the panel is tall, and the bottom portion of those lyrics can't be seen because there is no scroll bar on the lyrics panel, and the lyrics themselves don't scroll as the song plays. On the Tools/Lyrics Show Panel/Display window, the "Enable scroll" checkbox is checked in the Display portion.
Is there something else I'm missing?

Also, I saw a couple of reports of problems when embedding lyrics. I want to do that, but obviously not at the expense of all my other tags. Has that problem been fixed?
I have the newest version of uie_lyrics (0.3) and I was running it with foobar 0.9.3.1. My foobar kept crashing so I downgraded to 0.9.2 (I know for sure it works on this version because my friend runs it). It still crashes. First, when I play a song, it doesn't automatically download the lyrics from the internet (the settings are all default, and yes download automatically is checked). When I manually go to online search and press the search button, my foobar crashes. Please someone help me sad.gif

Hello all,
Does anyone know where I could find the direct link to the dll? I've searched the forums far and wide but can only find links for an old version and 0.3 beta 6. The link posted in the thread only seems to give the source, which at the moment is beyond my ability to compile.
If someone could kindly point me in the right direction, I'd be eternally greatful.

Edit: Sorted... I am officially blind. I don't know what I was smoking when I looked the first time, but it must have been some good stuff.
How can I change the order of the sources for Lyrics? I see in the settings "Order: Embed -> Association -> lyrics dir -> Local Search -> Online Search". There doesn't seem to be any way to change to order? I'd like to change it to online search first b/c that picks up the scrolling lyrics, whereas my local lyrics dir only has non-scrolling .txts.
My "big" problem with foo_uie_lyrics is that I can't change the default text when no file is playing.
I love the plug-in panel, and I use it as part of my permanent layout. But I find it annoying that when no track is playing, it just says "Lyrics Show" in the middle of the panel. Being absolutely blank would be preferrable in my opinion. Ideally, I would like it to either let me specify the text to display (including nothing), or to follow the cursor and display the lyrics for the currently selected track.
Other plug-ins I utilize such as foo_trackinfo_mod allow a high degree of flexibility. Come to think of it, I could probably use this plug-in to achieve what I want, since I store the lyrics in a tag anyhow. Viva, trackinfo!

I'm having problems finding lyrics in the same directory too. I've tried adding:

H:\MP3\%artist%\%album%
but neither works. What are we mising?
i have minilyrics downloading the lyrics to the folder C:\Program Files\Minilyrics\Download and renaming them the same as the mp3
how do i configure the panel to show them? Ive added the dir in the search path but that doesnt seem to find the lyrics
Sometimes this dll causes more than 80,77% cpu. It occurs for example when clicking on the panel w left mouse.

so heres my foobar with this panel, i installed evillyrics, i start to play a song, evillyrics looks it up in the database ( the panel finds nothing in foobar), evillyrics finds.. and it saves the file in the cache.. great..with the "artist - title.txt" format... ok, U can see how the panel in foobar configured.. but it doesnt find the txt when i start playing the song again.. Actually i wanna use evillyrics to download and save the lyrics automatically, but foobar doesnt find anything.. only when i associate the files one by one..
and an even more confusing thing.. randomly foobar associates lyrics with completely different files.. it looks like now all of my files, which didnt have other associations before, ara now connected to 4 or 5 txts.. i just dont get it at all... Could u help me?

Every time I search for lyrics with this component It crashes foobar, and it crashes it differently than how foobar would normally crash and provide an error file in the foobar directory.
When this component crashes it does none of that. foobar keeps playing music and a dialog comes up stating

This is pretty nifty. I have some questions.
Some lyrics I save to my tags (because I don't like the idea of having files). I also have it set to automatically download so I can see if there are lyrics I can embed to tags. This saves the lyrics to the "database tag" or whatever it is. Even when I change the lyrics in the tag and do "reload lyrics" it doesn't update. I also can't get rid of incorrect entries since, unlike when embedded in ID3... I can't just remove the database tag.
Also, is there a page with more definitive information about this plug? What lyrics DB does it use... how can I help add to it. Is there a change log. The first post has nothing in it... and... I looked through about 3 of the pages and didn't see anything.

I think there's a bug in the search screen: when I right click the "lyric show" tab and do an "online search..." the artist field comes up blank on the search screen.

I am having a problem when I open foobar2000, minilyrics opens up as well. When i start a song in foobar2000 for some songs it works perfect and plays correct lyrics for the correct song however soemtimes it will be blank in foobar2000 but when i open the Minilyrics program, the right song lyrics are scrolling in there. Was wondering if anyone knew how come?
Is there a way to show the synced timestamped lyrics with a transition from one line to another like Minilyric does?

Still trying to find out how to get lyrics to scroll (I have Enable Scroll checked, but the lyrics I have that are taller than the page don't scroll), and why using embed trashes *all* the tags. Any help greatly appreciated.

The auto-downloading thing didn't work well for me but nothing has trashed tags other than LYRICS.

Okay, the online-search sucks a lot, but if you use EvilLyrics minimized to tray you can set it's lyrics-folder to be used as source for your lyrics in foobar. This is a nice way to get a good online-search-engine into foo_uie_lyrics

Are there additional settings in the preferences I have to put in? Basically, it looks like foo_uie_lyrics gives up searching too soon, like before evillyrics is done putting the file into the lyrics directory. I can exclude tag or file name interpretation issues, because when I skip back to that track later the lyrics are displayed well.
So, how can I get foo_uie_lyrics to showing the lyrics right after evillyrics delivered them?

How come some of my lyrics (associated from a local directory) only update when I use the "Reload lyrics" function, while others don't care, even if I have made changes in the LRC file and saved it? And yeah, all of them are embeded to that file as well, and nothing happens if I remove it, re-associates and embeds again. It's still some elder lyric loaded in.

I think I've discovered the source of one of the lyric non-display issues that a few people have come across. The behaviour I observed was that the lyrics panel would only show the lyrics on the occasion that they were downloaded, and would not read them from the lyrics file later. Only certain lyric downloads were effected, but the only way to get the lyrics panel to display the lyrics was to download them every time I wanted to view them.
Opening any of the effected lyrics files showed nothing unusual, until I tried using a text file comparison program (WinMerge) on one of these files. It popped up a warning that included the following:
The EOL are of different types (DOS/UNIX/MAC)
After creating a new lrc file of the same name and text, but with all the EOLs (end of lines) replaced, I replaced the old lrc file, and played the song in fb2k again. However, it was only after I closed fb2k and reran it that the lyrics panel was forced to read the new lyrics file and from then on it has had no problem displaying the lyrics from the file whenever the song is played.
Unfortunately, I'm no windows programmer, so the only way I have of checking to see if the EOLs are doggy is to load them into WinMerge and then have WinMerge fix the EOLs.
I don't know if this lyrics plugin is still being updated, and could be changed to recognise non standard EOL types, but if anyone knows of an app that would search through all the files of types .lrc and .txt in a folder and its sub-folders and normalise all the EOLs, it would save an awful lot of stuffing around.

I'm using columns UI but I'm also experiencing scrolling problem.
Initially it works ok, then after closing and restarting foobar, it doesn't scroll, but instead freezes making delay for 4-5 lines and then jumps forward where it actually should be.
Sometimes, after just opening settings, it starts again to work ok, but then after restarting there's the same problem again.
Also, when I start continuous moving of mouse cursor over the lyrics' or nearby panels' tabs, it starts to scroll and continues as long as I keep moving mouse cursor. After I stop mouse, it stops. Is it a bug, or what is it? How can I get rid of this?

I'm trying the same setup you recommended, pyr0rrzzz (thanks for the tip, btw!) and I'm having the same problem others are - lyricpanel never finds any lyrics on its own, and I have to reload the lyrics about 20 seconds after evillyrics have downloaded them to get it to actually display the right lyrics. And it never scrolls for me, even if evillyrics got the karaoke time-stamped version of the lyrics.
Does anyone have a better tool they would recommend for in-panel scrolling lyrics?

FEATURE REQUEST
As it stands right now, I'm using Columns UI, Dockable Panels, and this plugin (and a few others). No problems and all is good. I noticed that the user can choose what tags to look at for lyric data in the Preferences window > "Read lyric from TAG:" field. I use winamp for entering lyrics simply because I can enter multipul lyric tags with full unicode support
It would be really cool if you could include a right click menu on the lyrics panel that would display "Lyrics Tags" as a menu entry and submenus could be all tags that match in the "Read lyric from TAG:" field in the Preferences. That way people could be able to read lyrics in original languages and translated languages.
I can do this function manually so far. I use LYRICS1, LYRICS2, LYRICS3, ect... for multipul lyric fields in my music files. It seems that if multipul lyric tags exist on the music file, only the first recognized tag is displayed. (I know you probably did this on purpose ) So I just list only one tag in the "Read lyric from TAG:" field. When I want to change it, I right click on the lyric panel, go to Settings..., and then change the "Read lyric from TAG:" field to another name (like LYRICS2), click [Save All] button and [Close] button, and then I right click again in the lyric panel, and click "Reload lyric" in the menu. Then when it refreshes, I can see the other lyric tag that I entered.
If all of this can be simplified so that all lyric tags (that are listed in "Read lyric from TAG:" field AND that exist in the current music file) would be displayed in the right click menu, for example:
Right-click > Lyric Tags >
Lyric_Tag_Name
Lyric_Tag_Name2
Lyric_Tag_Name3
...ect...
... that would be awsome!!! Another good thing to include is to have the plugin scan the music file's ID3 tag for lyric tags using a wildcard match string such as: " LYRICS_* ". In the future I would like to get very detailed with my tag names, e.g. LYRICS_GERMAN, LYRICS_CHINESE, LYRICS_KOREAN, ect... and if you can include this wildcard search function and easy right-click menu > submenu lyric selection... I woule LOVE YOU FOREVER!!! (but I'm a guy, so don't get the wrong idea )
If you include wildcard scanning for lyric tags, then you could also have custom titles for each lyric tag. Just remove the wildcard part before displaying them in the menus. Of course, users would be required to have their own software that can make custom tag fields in order for this idea to work. So if the specified wild card is this:
LYRICS_*
... and if the Tag names are like this:
LYRICS_ENGLISH
LYRICS_CHINESE
LYRICS_GERMAN
...ect...
...the the submenus can look like this (after removing wild card mask -- in this case it is "LYRICS_"):
Right-click > Lyric Tags >

GERMAN
Personally, if I only see tag names (such as LYRICS_ENGLISH), that would be just fine with me!

I have a very brief question. Is it me who can't configure the plugin properly, or it really can't display lyrics that are saved as .lrc files in the song's folder (and displays only lyrics which are found in the id3 tag of the song).
If I am wrong in my assumption, please tell me how to configure the plugin. If I am right, it may be a good idea to add this functionality in the future.

I've just discovered that foo_uie_lyrics does not work with foo_input_mslive (see this post (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=49165&view=findpost&p=482677)).
Can anyone confirm that this is a bug in foo_uie_lyrics? I've looked at the settings but can't see that there is anything I can do to avoid the problem. For now, I've removed foo_uie_lyrics and use foo_lyricsdb instead.

Maybe if the file names generated in the lyric files name panel have an extension do not append the ".lrc" to them.

This is the buggiest plugin I've ever downloaded. It doesn't find appropriately named lyrics when you save them to the proper subdirectory, and even if it does find them, it fails to embed them half the time. Half of the options don't work right for me.

Yeah, you need Columns UI (or Panels UI works too... but you need Columns regardless) for it to function. Then you go into the area in Columns UI where you can add panels (in foobar prefs, click the heading called "Columns UI" then on the right click the tab at the top called "Layout"). Yeah, you need Columns UI (or Panels UI works too... but you need Columns regardless) for it to function. Then you go into the area in Columns UI where you can add panels (in foobar prefs, click the heading called "Columns UI" then on the right click the tab at the top called "Layout"). You *may* need to sign up (its free) if you want to submit lyrics, but otherwise, it should work just fine . To use the plugin, in your playlist just right click a song and go to "Lyrics > get from db". Then let it search (don't do your entire playlist at once... you may cause a temp freeze... just 5-6 files usually is pretty fast) and it may or may not find lyrics. Usually it does.
Its really simple to use, and writes to the %lyrics% tag (at least mine does... not sure if I set it up like that however) so it will display in the lyrics panel when I refresh it.

well, i installed it and then when i tried to extract it to the components folder, i get an error that it is corrupted (this is the foolyricsdb007_beta5.dll). Then i open foobar and i get this error:
Failed to load DLL: foo_lyricsdb.dll
Reason: Not a valid Win32 application.
I have the foo_uie_lyrics component installed and functioning. It is nearly perfect! In fact, it would be perfect if I used a mouse. I'm aware that the lyrics are "scroll-able" via a mouse scroll wheel, but not all of us use mice! I am a Lenovo laptop user who uses the trackpoint (http://www.laptopworld.dk/assets/images/ThinkPad%20T60/Trackpoint.jpg) exclusively. I have tried the other lyrics panel (foo_uie_lyrics_panel), but that too doesn't allow for scrolling without a mouse. I'm aware of its auto-scroll function, but it is too much of a hassle.
I have two questions:
1. Is there a way to scroll the lyrics without a mouse that I'm unaware of?
2. If there isn't, can that feature be added?

I was on a laptop a while ago that made a triple click (or triple tap I guess) into a mouse wheel and another triple click to get out of it. Then you would just move your finger up to scroll down the page (move the page up) and vice versa. Are you sure yours doesn't do that? It may be a double tap with two fingers, I kinda forget.
If you don't have that, maybe clicking the panel with the pad and using the arrow keys up and down?

It does. My laptop also comes with a trackpad, but I wasn't able to scroll with it either. The arrow keys don't work. That's what I'd like the author to add to the next version. Either the ability to scroll with arrows are a scroll box on the side of the panel. I spent about two hours trying to scroll. The best alternative I discovered was right-clicking on the panel and viewing the lyric code page.
I'm aware of time-stamped lyrics, but I do not like them. I prefer standard text lyrics to them.

I'm trying to use this plugin and, like many, I've discovered that it seems to have a lot of problems finding lyrics.
Here's one problem I noticed...I often save artist names like this: "Police, The". The plugin will NEVER find the lyrics if the artist name ends in ", The" it seems...but if I manually search using "The Police" it works fine right away. Is there some way I can re-format the names it's using for searching (like I do when displaying my artist names in my playlist, for example)?
This is a great plug-in but it seems to have a few problems saving time-stamped lyrics made with the editor - is it being supported ?

cant say much, because it finds very less lyrics of my songs.
i want to save the lyrics to the file, and there is a setting to embed. good.
but it would be even better, if saving would not automaticly but ask the user if he wants to save the lyrics now.
because, sometimes its not the right lyrics and then the file is spoiled and i have to remove the tag ... so asking if lyrics should be saved would be better (of course this could be optional, so the user can choose: save asap, or ask me)
also i'm listening to many files from cd or network, which cannot save the lyrics tag. but i want to read the lyrics while listening. so automatic saving is very bad.
what do you think about this?

Not sure if anybody's gonna see this now, but I'm also new to this program, and I'm not seeing the Lyrics Panel when I look at the Layout tab of Columns UI. Does it matter that I have a layout loaded in PanelsUI? I know that the plugin is loaded because I can change its settings in Tools, I just can't figure out how to load it into view.
foobar makes me an idiot But I'm not going back to iTunes.

Works here: can you navigate to the LyricsDB Home Page (http://lyrics.mirkforce.net/) with your browser?
LyricsDB saves the lyrics in a (user defined) tag; when it finds something it opens a window where you can see/edit the text: clicking the OK button, you'll save the info in the tag.

I just wanna store my lyrics this way:
Music file:
/MusicDir/albumname/01 - Good song.mp3
The according lyric file:
/MusicDir/albumname/01 - Good song.lrc
So... I don't wanna embedded lyrics... and... at the moment... all my lyric-files are stored as
/MusicDir/albumname/Artist - Good song.lrc
When I rename the lrc-file to
/MusicDir/albumname/01 - Good song.lrc
it is found... because I changed the "lyric file name" field to "filename : %_filename%".
But I have to rename the lrc-file by myself and remove the old association from the association manager...
it's a bit annoying... why aren't the lyric files stored as it is defind in the "lyric file name" field... and why is it impossible disabling the lyrics association manager...?
Storing lyrics could be as easy as storing album art...
Maybe some checkboxes...
[ ] Store to file tag (LYRICS, UNSYNCED LYRICS)
[ ] Store to file
-- [ ] Use association manager
[ ] Use lyric search path

I'm using foo_uie_lyrics component and i noticed that when it searchs for the lyrics many songs that starts with "The" are not found while instead the rest of the songs of the same album are downloaded, maybe in the database there is a formatting script that changes the song
from -> The Heart of Everything
to -> Heart of Evrything, The
how i fix this in the preferences of the component to get these songs too?

The from the title but i0m not sure is it really working.
Where is it possible to force the lyrics search ? When using foo_uie_lyrics in a dockable panel, there was an option under the "File" menu. But just with foo_lyricsDB and foo_text_display, I don't see anything...

You can scroll by "dragging" (or grabbing or whatever this is called - click+move while keeping mouse button pressed) the text zone !
Mouse wheel is working now. I tried to click and then move the mouse but this not work. I disable the autoscroll, maybe have something to do with this. The mouse wheel is ok for me. Thanks for replying

Have you considered adding simple timestamping functionality to this component? Just a button which would add the current time and move to the next line. This way one can synchronize plaintext lyrics without resorting to third-party programs like MiniLyrics.

Try foo_lyricsdb (Here (http://pelit.koillismaa.fi/plugins/show.php?id=127)). Select your songs, right-click, hit get from db, and it's done It'll embed it into the metadata, they're not timestamped though.
Btw, is it possible to change the field the lyrics downloaded with foo_uie_lyrics are embedded in? Looking at the file properties it saves it in %LYRICS%. Can this be changed to another field?

Sorry for only now giving you an answer, I was without Internet for months. I used a Info.txt on any folder and it was loaded at begining of a song in Lyrics Panel, but now with the latest version is not working. Something is changed and I didn't find the right way to see this text file again, if somebody could help me!?

you should listen to the beat
if that's too hard then no, you need timestamps
plugin is incompatible with columns' tab stack, it is just not visible, when in the stack.
