Quality of files converted by fb2k—Is it a good tool to encode to AAC?

Hi all,
I am wondering the quality of audio files when we use foobar to convert. I don't want to store lossless file (because of my damn hard disk's size), then i think about using foobar to convert into AAC codec.
Yes, of course i know the quality is not good as lossless file. But, Is foobar the good tool to do that?

All foobar2000 will do is to decode (if necessary) the original file to PCM and then pass the latter to your selected AAC encoder. The result will be no different from that which would be obtained by any other method (e.g. using a different program to decode, either on-the-fly or in a separate step), unless said other method was configured differently or was erroneous in some way.

You can find discussion on how to configure foobar2000 to use various AAC encoders. Examples:
