may i know your favorite headphone?
Hi
could be a poll , but seeing how many headphones are out and seeing 2017 is gone,i guess it's more appropriate create a new topic

well may i know your favorite headphones ?
personally even i own exansive sennheiser headphones and my lovely grado SR325e , i found AKG K701 & AKG K 240 MK II really great headphone
I ended buying the AKG K701 and even they really cost less then my sennheiser and grado , i love their sound , i listen rock music and some classical music

well may i know which are your favorite headphones ? and what do you think about AKG headphone?

last thing testing my headphones i play audio in flac , i wanted to encode in mp3 and opus, outside ears to play on my smartphone , i  have seen in this forum almost all the users use the frequency analysis , why? is the only tool?

well it never late to say happy new year

I won't mind if I have to stick at my Sennheiser HD600s --- but I want a pair of HD800s, for their physical comfort, and for the fact that what is considered their fault seems to match that of my ears

At my computer desk I use HD600s, for portable situations I use Shure SE215s.

Beyerdynamic DT-880s. They've been around for ages, and they're just brilliant.

Hi
may i ask you a question about Sennheiser 580, does Sennheiser replaced  with the HD 598?
and the Audio Technica ATh M50 with ATH-M50X , just because with the number i did always a big confusion
thanks

Senn HD650 for enjoyment, Sony MDR-V6 for recording/tracking/rough mixing. I can't abide my Grado/Alessandro phones any more, and my old pair of Beyer DT990 sound excessively sibilant to me these days.

Koss Porta pro, Bang & Olufsen H6,  Akg k701 not for rock I use these for Chet Baker listening.
Lately I use more a pair of bone induction Trekz Titanium.. Compromise.

I'm not sure about the 598, I thought that was in the 555-ish family, which are nice, but less to my taste.

The Sennheiser 580 was the predecessor to the 600. As I recall, they use essentially the same (mildly iterated) driver in essentially the same orientation. The 580 was less expensive, which explains why it was discontinued.

Not totally sure what the x means in the audio Technica world; I had assumed it just indicated the most recent version. A-T's claims about how comfortable their cans are for hours at a time are real exaggerations IME.

Sennheiser HD650 and HD800 here.  While HD800 is more expensive/advanced but HD650 still is more neutral and preferable for some genres as rock/metal.

I also tried HD 600 and strangely I love them not less than 650 and 800.  Its frequency response is how music should sound  as for my ears. I haven't buy them (yet?) because I already have 650/800.

I still have a pair of Sennheiser HD580's I've had for well over 20 years. I replaced them last year with the Sony Mdr-z7 last year and am very happy with the Sony's. Very comfortable with a nice feeling of quality and sound.

My favourites are without a doubt my Grado SR325 which I use with a portable JDS Labs C5D DAC/Amp.
Replaced the large plug with an Oyaide 3.5mm & use them with larger aftermarket foam pads.
Play FLAC through either Foobar or my iPhone 7+ through the JDS Labs C5D DAC/Amp.
On the bike I use Jaybird X2's and am considering some 1MORE Triple Lightning IEM's.
Because I find Jaybird so good I'm looking forward to lossless Bluetooth 5 IEM's but currently nobody has any.
Love a pair of HD800 or HD820's (that people gushed about at CES 2018) but for the AUD$150 I bought my SR325's for they're hard to beat and just so cool (started on SR60, SR80, SR225 before)
I NEARLY bought PS1000 or PS500 but luckily I saw these 325's which seems like better made PS500's anyway.
Like the idea of Lightning headphones which come with a decent Sabre DAC but currently nobody offers anything compelling other than those Lightning Triples.
I would suggest shunning lossy audio full stop, run a high capacity smartphone & forget compression altogether.
I approve of general Sennheiser popularity here :) HD600's are such great classics and those affordable Massdrop ones seem cool.
This may be naive but I'd love it if Apple pioneered a worthwhile new HD audio format & we see music mastered to higher standards than the antique 16/44 we're mostly stuck with.
Being 50 I've fond memories of TDK MAR90 Cassettes and the digital CD audio "revolution" and all the way through I felt 16/44 is a backward step from the analog vinyl audio we enjoyed from Rega Planar 3 and Linn Sondek LP12 back in the day.
Surely recording was not perfected 36 years ago in 1982?
There must be a better way & I say bring it.

All the best to my fellow audio enthusiasts..!!

Head size and shape is variable, but I've had a few Sennheisers over the years and they were all extremely comfortable for me. They also sounded pretty good, apart from my last pair (HD515), which were merely okay. Something about them always seemed a little underwhelming.

I am currently favouring the Musical Fidelity MF-100. It sounds good to me, but it is just a little bit tighter on my head than I'd like.

HD600 for music at home. HD238 for PC at home (Youtube, games, etc.). Original Samsung headset (HS3303) for everything else (job, gym, commute).

Beyerdynamic DT 770, the old ones with the cool new ear pads in grey.  8)

I use them for recording sessions with my band, but also when doing listening tests for FAAC back then.
