SB Audio Player 4.2 Beta 1

SB Audio Player 4.2 Beta 1 is out.

Please try it and write bug reports, comments, feature requests... in this thread

I hope the CPU usage (discussed in another thread) is much lower now due to higher update timer resolution.

This new release also feature WINAMP INPUT PLUGINS, Winamp/Sonique/Ultraplayer visual plugins, MIDI sampling, better stdout streaming, plus all features from the last version and more...

Okay, I played around with it a bit and here are some notes in random order.

The interface is very confusing. It took me a while to figure out how to actually make it play something, which brings me to my next point.

It crashed when I tried to play an MP3 file.

It also crashed when I tried to play a Vorbis file.

It doesn't seem to have MPC support. That would have been nice.

It doesn't show up in taskbar, which I find annoying.

Installer creates icon in quick launch without my permission. I dislike that.

Playlist window is too small. Navigating directory trees with long names is difficult.

Again... the interface... besides being confusing, it's also horrible to look at.

There's probably more, but I can't test this extensively, since I can't make it play anything.

Some quick notes:

I didn't have a problem with mp3's
It would not play mpc files despite in_mpc.dll being placed in the plug-ins directory
It played vorbis with the winamp plug-in
Played m4a files with FAAD installed. In-mp4.dll did not work.

Agree with JensRexs comments re: the visual aspect of the player and the quick launch icon.

I am running XP Pro.

Didn't vorbis work with the built in support?

For in-mp4, you also need in-mp3 found in the Winamp Plugin directory, because in-mp4 is just a wrapper for in-mp3...

Did the mpc-files come up in the file-list?

I have an updated anti-virus program but it doesn't detect a virus in bass.dll

Which Windows / DX version do you use?

What soundcard do you have?

What kind of crash do you get?

I have scanned it with AVG antivirus and Norman Virus Control and there were no virus alerts, so I guess (and hope) it was a false alarm.

No, I had to place the winamp vorbis dll to get ogg vorbis files to play.
Yes the mpc files showed but did not play
I will try in_mp4 with in_mp3 when I get the time!
