1.4b prevent display timeout ?

not sure if this already posted by someone else or not

i have been using 1.4b for a while and since like 2 weeks i am noticing my pc display not doing its timeout (i set display timeout to 15minutes)
i am not sure whether its windows10 few latest update (1803) that causing some conflict or something with current beta version foobar with windows10 that have "things" that prevent screen timeout

also i am not really sure whether its foobar that prevent screentimeout or not

but in powercfg it listed like this:
SYSTEM:
[DRIVER] ASUS Xonar D2X Audio Device (PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_82B71043&REV_00\5&3a3ca2e4&0&200048)

i always keep foobar run most all the time, either playback music from my files or streaming online-radio
i dont have display/screen-timeout related problem before, display will just timeout like normally, this just start happening recently.... i probably try rollback to 1.3.17 to see if it fix the issue or not

if anyone have hint why this happening please let me know how to fix it

thanks in advance

foobar2000 can prevent display power saving with a setting found at the bottom of the Playback preferences screen. But when it's enabled powercfg -requests shows that foobar2000.exe requests DISPLAY to remain powered.

I don't think any of the components you have could affect this using some other methods. But you could test with a clean portable install into another directory. Set display to power off in 1 minute so testing is fast.

thanks for the suggestion

i did some more testing with 1.4.17b, first i make sure prevent screen-saver & monitor standby disabled
as i never touch that setting, so its disabled by default .... but to make sure, i enable it-> apply -> then disable -> apply
it still prevent display-timeout, not sure what causing it, in past i never have this issue

if foobar idle (not playback anything), the screen/display timeout working normal

when streaming / playback music = screen/display timeout not working, sometimes after the set time display time-out for a seconds and return back on for no reason

so i am guessing there is something changes with few latest windows10 update, or changes in foobar 1.4.* that causing it

i will roll-back to 1.3.17, see if i am getting the same issue.... will report it back later

thanks

If you are using HDMI audio to the display, audio playback will always prevent display timeout. Otherwise, audio playback will stop when the display powers off.

hello, thanks for additional information
i dont using hdmi audio, i using 2 display, one plugged to display-port and another one to DVI

but what you are saying give me idea to just disable those Hi-def Audio in windows sound setting,
i never use it, but it installed with nvidia(geforce) driver by default, i might test to uncheck audio driver install next time i update the driver

anyway i did rollback to 1.3.17 and did few test.... so far everything normal (but i havent reboot my pc in last 2 days, so probably just coincidence that changes i did "temporary" fix the timeout problem )
will report more if i find anything new

thanks

DisplayPort also supports audio, but if you're not using your monitor's speakers, I guess the point is moot.

want to share update
i got display-timeout not working again after reboot, after that i did several test
and i think the timeout issue is not caused by foobar ... even if probably have some relation (as in powercfg -requests it listed foobar)
but i kinda come to conclusion that foobar not the one causing the issue

so probably something with windows10 build 1803 updates itself
i might need to reset or clean reinstall windows10 to fix this.... but it just to much work for now
