Title: Album art and WavPack
Post by: navin on 2020-09-18 17:16:24
Many moons ago I ripped my collection to MP3 (using Lame) and WavPack. I used EAC and a script called WACK that permitted me to make 2 copies (MP3 and WavPack) in one rip.

Since I had an iPod I continued to use the MP3 (copied using iTunes) for the car. and did not worry about the WavPack files. Now that iPods are all but extinct, I decided to get a FiiO player and a big SD card and copy my WavPack files to the card.

I find that while my MP3 files all have album art tags, my Wavpack files do not.

How do I auto embed album art into about 30,000 WavPack files? (about 3,000 albums and over 1200 artists).?

Is this even possible?

Thanks

Well, several things come to mind.

First, I was not aware that any FiiO player supports WavPack. Are you actually playing WavPack files on there?

My next question is how have you checked for the album art on the WavPack files (assuming it's not simply the FiiO not showing them)? Maybe they're on there and your player is not showing them. Of course, unless your script specifically put artwork on there then they're likely to not have any.

Assuming the MP3 files have the album art and the WavPack's really don't, I'm not sure of the best way to transfer them. I have seen threads about Mp3tag being able to do things like that, but haven't tried. Foobar2000 might be another way to do it too once it has the artwork in its database (lot's of experts on that around here).

I did not think about the FiiO bit. Now I remember years ago when I was ripping my WavPacks there were few if any portable players (I think Cowon was one brand) that could recognise WavPack.  One option would be to use an Android based phone and use it as a player with some software that can recognise WavPack.

I used FooBar2000 and noticed that many of my WavPack files did not have Album Art embeded in them. I suppose it was some poor settings in EAC (ver 0.95) that I used that might have been the cause.

What about using Perfectunes to at least determine which of my 1000 or so albums have their art and which do not have album art embded.
