--scale with --alt presets

I've read in previous posts that some command line options are overridden when using the presets.  Does this include --scale?  Or can I manually specify my own value (like .95)?

The only things which are usually overridden are options which are marked experimental (-X modes, --ns stuff, etc) or which directly control the psymodel or vbr behavior, because these things may change on a frame by frame basis now.  Stuff like limiting the bitrate (-b160), using a diff lowpass or highpass, or scale value, or nearly anything else, should work fine.
