Plex - does it mess with your tags or metadata?

I've got to the advanced section of the Plex setup.

There's no none option here. I cannot see anything where or not Plex tampers with the existing tags or not.

Is it safe to go ahead?

To my knowledge, Plex stores its metadata in its own database and does not alter the media files themselves.

Just to be sure I've set the files to read-only.
But going by what I've read in different places, it has it's own proprietary system much like iTunes has.

So, I went into my Synology and enabled permissions to read the folder like so (just to have a snoop).



And there's a folder:
/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata



So I assume I'm okay with taking the Read-only flag off the files.
