difference in extraction quality

Good morning everyone, I wanted to ask what difference there is in terms of the quality of audio extraction in EAC between safe mode and paranoia mode? I am referring more to the audio quality itself that we can listen to tracks. Thank you in advance

safe mode? You mean secure mode?

Paranoid Mode
This is an old mode that has been superseded by secure mode. It is highly unlikely that this mode will provide any benefit over secure mode.

excuse me Korth so this speech also applies to audio extraction in foobar2000?

Paranoid mode in foobar2000 is different than EAC.

Ripping security - "Security" refers to the level of error detection and whether correction is attempted by trying to get identical results through re-reads. Security allows damaged or defective discs to be read with fewer errors, but slows down ripping and wears out the drive faster.

    disabled - Whatever audio data the drive sends in a single read is simply accepted as-is.
    standard - Two identical CRCs on each block are required; it will keep rereading and error out if it can't get consistent results after 128 reads.
    paranoid - The same as "standard" but requires four identical CRCs on each block to pass.

In EAC, error recovery for secure ripping is controlled by a different setting
Higher settings can slow down ripping and wear out the drive faster.

    Error recovery quality
        (Default: Medium, Recommended: Low)

When an error is detected after reading a frame, EAC re-reads the frame 16 times in an attempt to get at least 8 identical results. The error recovery quality setting determines the maximum number of times EAC will do the 16 re-reads:

    Low = one batch of 16 re-reads
    Medium = up to three batches of 16 re-reads (16, 32, or 48, total)
    High = up to five batches of 16 re-reads (16, 32, 48, 64, or 80, total)

Note, once a rip verifies AccurateRip or the CUETools database - this presuming that you aren't re-ripping in a way where you "verify against your own faulty rip" - then you have the proof of the pudding. Secure ripping is a means to an end.

If that is in place, you should be more concerned about whether your drive can extract HTOA or over-read, or if you have CDs with that pesky pre-emphasis.
