cdparanoia TOC copy and pre values

I know the pre flag is pre-emphasis, but what about the copy flag?  Is it copy protection?  And are there ever any instances where these value might differ per track?

According to the Exact Audio Copy FAQ it is a copy protection flag

...the copy protection is only a flag on the CD, and all CD-ROM drives will ignore it on reading.

I thought so.  Thank you.  I couldn't find it anywhere in the cdparanoia or cdda2wav documentation.

My Marantz CD player muted its digital out when the DCP flag was present.
Is troll-adiposity coming from feederism?
With 24bit music you can listen to silence much louder!

I installed icedax (cdda2wav).  Supposedly it reads the subcodes instead of the TOC.
With cdparanoia, I'm thinking copy=no means no copy protection, but icedax shows copy-permitted=no
(btw: this is out of curiosity as I have no trouble copying the disc)
