Spek Questions

Hello all, I've been browsing for a really long time. Just joined today.

I've transitioned into higher quality audio for about two years now, and I've come across this situation quite a few times now.

These are two different spek readings of the same song. The first is the .flac directly ripped from the NOW! 61 US CD, and the second is directly from his album "Flicker". Why is there the extra blue "fuzz" at the top of the album version? There is nothing in the single version, just black.

Single version-

Album version in question-

If both files are ripped by you and using the same ripping software/settings, there is nothing to worry about. The same song on different albums or compilations could be processed differently during mastering. For example, different dither types could be the answer of your question. Take a look at this nice article:

On the other hand, if one of the files is purchased online, you should pay attention to the potential watermark issue.
