Vinyl / Needle Drop?
Last post by Artie -
I keep seeing the term "needle drop" used here, and I'm beginning to think it means something different than what I understand it to refer to. I think of "needle drop" as that time I hit my cueing lever, not realizeing that all of the damping fluid has seeped out of the cueing mechanism, resulting in the tonearm dropping like a rock, placeing a divot in my nice new record, that results in a permanent "pop". Or, I'm using a manual table, and while trying to gently lower the tonearm, (after eleventy-seven beers), it slips, and I get the same result.

Are you all using the term "needle drop" to simply mean "playing a vinyl record"?

IMHO, half the fun of vinyl is messing around with the mechanical aspects of the turntable. Especially if you have a cueing mechanism, with good damping fluid, that works smoothly. Much more fun than dropping a CD into a tray, or "clicking" on an item in a playlist.

EDIT: Sorry to be a PITA once again, but there is one more small problem I've noticed. When you go to the "Edit External Tags" context menu, it immediately creates external tags if they don't exist. But if you cancel out of the Properties window, the external tags remain. I think it would be better if the edit menu was disabled if there are no external tags, and have an explicit "create external tags" menu instead

+1 for me on this also;  I mentioned the same in a previous post:,116141.msg960392.html#msg960392

..and thanks for putting up with us PITA's!!

Development - (fb2k) / Pinning decoder priority?
Last post by Nisto -
Would it be possible to implement a way to pin component decoders, so that newly added decoders doesn't take precedence in the priority list? In most cases, newly installed decoders gets added to the top of the priority list, but if you have something that should have absolute top priority (in my case, External Tags), that might break expected behavior.
General Audio / Re: Upscaling MP3 to DSD

The OP needn’t clarify anything.

For those who still get even a modicum of entertainment the use of “some” was pretty obvious: digital is inherently harsh so mp3 can only be made less harsh.

Updated. Again, making the search
NOT %__tagtype% HAS xterna
makes a few lonely files (no more than one from each album) show up. But this time, all disappeared with "Reload info from file(s) if changed", no need for "Reload info from file(s)".
