General - (fb2k) / Play a specific time from a Track
Last post by Dojando -
I have looked for a feature like that for a few hours now but couldn't find any solutions or plugins for that.
I have lots of songs downloaded from youtube, because lots of my favourite artists are only youtubers who make covers or their own kind of music. The quality isn't thaaat bad ... well ok sometimes it is but I don't care ^^
But that's not the Point. Lots of those songs have an intro or outro from the video itself.
Is there any feature in Foobar2000 or any plugin with which I can mark only a specific time the track is playling.
Like from 20 seconds to 3:30 minutes instead of 0:00 to 4:21 ?

None of them. I don't kick in "10 seconds into the song". It enables the decoder if there are consecutive frames within the first 10 seconds of the song. It also rewinds back to the beginning and applies the effects from the start. Or at least it's supposed to.

It only scans the first 10 seconds, because otherwise, it would have to be enabled at all times, and would only start to take effect on tracks the moment the first audio packet is discovered.

after many days of different attempts to re-customize foobar, i managed to get some success (various forced compromises and inconveniences are still present)

(speaking about the 3 tasks that were previously mentioned in this topic)
here is the only task that's left to be done:
a code which allows foobar to show selected tracks' total length (status bar is always hidden)

i cannot write this code. and i'm not absolutely sure that such code could be created
but in case it could:
i found a list which contains some kind of related commands. could they really be useful as parts of the code?:

window.GetProperty(name[, defaultval])
plman.InsertPlaylistItems(playlistIndex, base, handles[, select])
plman.InsertPlaylistItemsFilter(playlistIndex, base, handles[, select])
plman.MovePlaylistSelection(playlistIndex, delta)
plman.IsPlaylistItemSelected(playlistIndex, itemIndex)

Okay, here's a problem: if you select a set of audio files where only one of them contains a certain tag and you remove it (via "Edit External Tags"), it will only create a .tag file for the one file that contained the tag. I would've preferred it created a .tag file for all files, even if there's technically no change for some.

Hi. The HDCD decoder can only have two processing effects: Gain level adjustment, and peak extension. There is no other magic processing that can have any effect on the signal. Halving the volume level and converting to 24 bit really has no effect, other than halving the volume.
Opus / Re: Why doesn't opusenc have a quality setting?
Last post by sveakul -
The only thing hard coded into the encoder and decoder is the resampling quality, which is set at 5. I have made custom builds with this number changed to 10. I don't think the developers will change this behavior soon as they think that 5 is enough, but still internally at the code, it can go up to 10.
Any chance of getting a 32-bit build of this package?

0.7.1 beta has been released:

This will hopefully fix problems using some iPod shuffle 4G devices with the component and also adds support for the equivalent of on-the-go playlists on the iPod nano 7G.

At the moment it's marked as a beta version, but I'll remove that tag if no problems are reported.
Opus / Re: How to encode TRUEHD 5.1 to Opus 5.1 using opusenc?
Last post by Luke M -
If you want to encode opus directly from ffmpeg, not using opusenc, you have to use some weird options because the defaults are broken.

Code: [Select]
ffmpeg -i input.mkv -af aformat=channel_layouts="7.1|5.1|stereo" -mapping_family 1 -vcodec copy -scodec copy -acodec libopus -map 0 output.mkv

Without the channel_layouts stuff, ffmpeg will fail with an error such as "Invalid channel layout 5.1(side) for specified mapping family -1". Without the mapping_family option, ffmpeg will disable channel coupling and LFE optimization.

The default bitrate is 96k for stereo, 320k for 5.1, and 416k for 7.1. There's no way to change this in a sensible way (e.g. per channel); if you set a bitrate it will apply the same rate to stereo, 5.1, 7.1, etc.
