Title: Automatic tagging in foobar
Post by: alexberka on 2012-09-23 13:54:02
Hello. I have a large amount of vinyl captured files which have no artist/album tagging, but are arranged in a folder structure e.g. /artist/album/track_name. Is there any easy way to map directory structure onto artist and album tagging in foobar without me laboriously having to enter all the text fields?

Cheers

Properties/Automatically Fill Values (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000%3a%50roperties/Automatically_Fill_Values)

If you pick that option (automatically fill values...) in the next dialog you choose from: Other and insert the path this way $directory_path(%path%)
Then you can write a pattern depending on your folder structure. Keep in mind, unwanted characters can be masked with an empty tag like %%

That is not necessary, "file names" includes parent folders (see the documentation above).

Geez Frank, I did not pay attention to that. The preview shows the path as soon as a backslash is entered. Good to know.
