3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Backing up Foobar setup
Last post by marc2k3 -
If installed in normal mode, you should never have to backup the folder from inside "program files (x86)" because nothing personal to you should ever end up there. Encoders might end up there if you use the encoder pack but it makes more sense to run the installer again rather than backing them up.

In theory, backing up/restoring your entire foobar2000 folder from %appdata%\roaming should be all you need to do. Of course your playlist and library would expect your music lives in the same location.

If you want to try portable mode, associating files is easy enough - you just have to do them one type at a time. Right click a file in Explorer>open with>choose another app and browse for your portable foobar2000 executable.

I've been using fb2k for years, but I only just discovered foo_discogs, and... wow! This will save me a lot of manual work!

I like saving both the original release date and the reissue date, and would like the full dates when available. I found RELEASE_DATE_RAW, but is there any way to get MASTER_RELEASE_DATE_RAW? I've only found that MASTER_RELEASE_YEAR works, so far.

FLAC / Re: New FLAC compression improvement

As you can see above -ep only slightly improves compression because the SSE double precision already doesn't leave  much room. I use a Ryzen 5900x.

General Audio / Re: Equalise Volumes via dbPoweramp (-db) & wxMp3gain (+db) conversion

If either my FLAC or mp3 is -11 LUFS (new replay gain), and I need to normalize it to -14 LUFS, then does foobar normalize losslessly?
Also, wxmp3gain's default is 89db (old replay gain), and allows me to undo/remove the normalization at any time, hence I don't use foobar.
Please clarify what's invalid as  I've just spent the last several days using wxmp3gain to normalize half my mp3 library, based on what I've learned on this thread

My foobar fully resides on a ramdisk (for reasons), it's portable and it gets automatically synced daily (and on windows shutdown) to a regular hdd (and monthly to a secondary hdd). I've never lost my foobar.
