[bug] Foobar seems not to be able to display the artwork embedded in the file

Some albums have a different artwork embedded in each track.
foobar2000 doesn't seem to be able to display this artwork, it only checks for artwork in the folder.

This makes it impossible to enjoy the artwork as intended by the artist: switch the artwork for each track.

A few examples:

https://k-limov.bandcamp.com/album/k-limov-16-deer-valley-2

(Sorry, they're paid downloads, the examples are just there as an example of albums issued that way. It can be tested with any file by adding a different embedded image to each track of any album also having cover art in the folder.)

You are mistaken. The default album art viewer is perfectly capable of showing different art for each file. Same with any possible third party image viewers.

By default the album art viewer prefers showing largest image, so if external art file is larger than embedded art, larger is assumed to be of higher quality and it will be shown. You can configure this in Preferences -> Advanced -> Display -> Album art -> Embedded vs external.

But if you have only album cover display enabled within the playlist, that will not change per-track. But I assume this isn't your complaint, certainly you understand that album has only one cover and it doesn't change even when listening to a different track.

@OP, you don't seem to be plagued by doubt. You can assume we would have already noticed. As Case wrote. Artwork view in playlist is not as dynamic, but Artwork View Panel can display per-track and you define if it displays selected or currently playing.

Thanks a lot for the swift replies, I checked preferences, but didn't expect to find the solution in the advanced section.

I don't consider choosing between larger/external/embedded artwork something advanced. Unless I'm the only fool missing this, it might be considered to move this option together with the basic Album Art setting?
