3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Wrapped-SMP

Just updating to let people know this script is now fully compatible with ListenBrainz listens, so it works with both local and online listens (as long as you have your library tagged with MBIDs), also with Playcount 2003 component and makes use of local Biography images. In offline mode you only lose some playlist recommendations which are based on YouTube\ListenBrainz.

Sure layout can be improved (open to suggestions  :) ), mimics the one from 2023 and expands it; but at least the presentation and processing of the data is much better than the one Spotify offers. Specially this year which is pretty weak.

There have been a few improvements lately, still working on it, will release a new version soon. (meanwhile people can use the nightly with latest changes)

EDIT: I think I could also create a HTML interactive file, instead of a PDF report, which then could be opened with foo_webview or a browser. That would be cool.

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Routing data flows to Foobar via VB Cable (Windows 10)

You can verify foo_record working by right clicking on the entry and select Convert and save the output for example to a WAV file for a while. If you end recording with Abort-button, the resulting file will be deleted by default. You can cleanly end recording and get a working output file by using 'Playback' -> 'Stop recording' button.
You can then open the file for example in any audio editor to see what it contains. I probably shouldn't speculate further at this point, but it's easy to make foobar2000 silent by for example muting it in Windows mixer. Anything is possible.

Sample rate differences you keep mentioning sound like you use different settings in Windows mixer and in programs. Windows mixer settings are the only settings that matter for anything that doesn't do exclusive mode operation. With non-exclusive access all output gets resampled to sample rate set for output device, and when recording everything gets resampled to capture device sample rate.

Ok, you have apparently disabled access to microphone in privacy and security settings. Please fix permissions and try again.

Thank you Case :)
OK, it seems we are getting somewhere :)

Now there's no error from foobar. I see the data flow going and the timer going. Still no audio tho.
Tried changing foobar's Output virtual device among "Primary Sound Drive", "ASIO Fireface USB" and "Altoparlanti RME" ("RME Speakers") to no avail.

Notes:

1. In W10's Sound settings, the Cable devices are now all getting activity on v-meters.
2. I'm currently looping a song @ 48/24.
3. In VC's control panel both Input and Output Level's meters are active. Weirdly enough, S1-Cable Input shows 44.1/24, while S1-Cable Output shows 48/24 tho.

Is this of any help?

General - (fb2k) / Problems with the configuration of foobar2000
Last post by Jakeelee -
Hello,
I have some problems setting up my foobar2000 the way I want it to be. And since I'm not a natural born speaker, the help function doesn't really help me either. Maybe one of you can help me.

So problem number 1: I would like the CD title to only be shown once at this point (see attached screenshot)
Problem number 2: I would like the CD number to be shown in the yellow area if it is a multiple CD, because as it is now, the tracks from CD1 and then those from CD2 are simply shown one below the other.
Problem number 3: how can I display the column headings again?

Thanks a thousand times in advance

Audio Hardware / USB dac as pre-amp, how does it work
Last post by Tony Hubcaps -
Hello -
I'm curious about something...
I have a Toppng DAC and like many of these types of DAC it can be used in "pre-amp mode" or direct.
(It's a usb dac used with windows, foobar, etc).

Now, when I use it in normal or direct mode I can still control the volume through the Windows volume mixer,
and I have checked and found that this seems to be linked to the Topping driver - ie running ToppingUsbAudioCpl.exe
brings up a dialog screen where output levels, buffer size etc can be adjusted, and changing the volume here will
change the volume in the mixer and vice versa.

So am I correct in assuming that by doing this I am actually physically controlling the DAC as though it were in
pre-amp mode? (In which case, what's the difference !? ).

thanks in advance, and apologies for a possibly rather boring question!

I have yet another module to sort out... difficult and demanding and who knows how many problems I will still find

Learning should be a life long ambition.

Creating something like Library Tree (SMP) for webview would be a nightmare or just impossible without a full handle/handle list implementation. I don't really think forcing to work with track paths for all methods is the way to go. But obviously it all depends on the scope you want for the component.

The starting point should not be, what we could recreate, but what we can newly create.
Doing the things I've already done with webview would be a nightmare or just impossible to get to work in JSP SMP, not least of all due to shit memory issues with the frameworks. @pqyt has the right idea there.

Both are stagnant waters for many reasons, not least of which the learning curve to get something useful.
They are more backend tools and webview is more of a frontend tool (currently) and it's about damn time FB has one; not to mention one with far more applicable real world applications, e.g internet?!

I've already achieved more with it in a few months, than 15 years prior.
They may be "simple UI things" to you, but I've seen few, if any of them around here in all that time.
@flagstaff/br3tt was a master of UX/front end and look how his work hangs on here zombified and worshipped 10 years later.

Lossless / Other Codecs / Re: HALAC (High Availability Lossless Audio Compression)
Last post by Hakan Abbas -
What changes you did to LPC part?
It is important to feed the linear estimator with clean data. However, I noticed that I was including a few unnecessary data in the calculation from the beginning. Because the squaring of the differences can change the sum value quite a lot. And this means drawing the wrong function.
In previous versions, sometimes the “-fast” mode was even better than the “-normal” mode. And the simpler audio data was not compressed enough. Now we are much more robust.
