What does iTunes use to tag mp3s?

Whenever I use mp3s in both foobar and iTunes, tags get cut.  What tagging does iTunes use, and what tagging should I use in foobar to avoid having tags get cut?

You're probably using ID3v1 and APEv2 in foobar, and ID3v2 in iTunes.  Foobar .8 will ignore the redudanant ID3 tags written by iTunes, so you just see the ID3v1 tags, which are unable to hold all the info you require.

Either use ID3v2 in foobar, do not tag in iTunes, or use foobar .9 which will intelligently correct tags after iTunes is done with them.
