Post by: kjoonlee on 2007-10-27 09:41:43
Replaygain override (http://www.acc.umu.se/~zao/foobar2000/) (foo_rg_trn), configureable at Preferences | Playback | Replaygain override.

(See Frank Bicking's original post for screenshot, please.)

This plugin was previously linked from:

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=57523 (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=57523)

Is there any chance it will get support for 0.9.5's random order?

Heh, I didn't think there were anyone else than TrN that thought that the plugin was a good idea.
The current issue with it is that the last shuffle is not listed in the settings, due to Random pushing them shuffles down a step.
I went over my source when 0.9.5 beta 1 was released and I could not find any harmful effects of this, just the aforementioned mislabeling and missing order.
I'll fix this bug soon and make a post here when I do.

There we go, 0.1.2 should work fine in both 0.9.5 and 0.9.4.x.
The override settings may be displaced when upgrading, but since there's a brand new shiny mode, you probably want to adjust them anyway.

DOES NOT WORK FOR ME ON, FB2K 0.9.5.4b2 It loads but i hear no difference. I set default replay gain to none, and selected the replaceable override to my desire with no difference. Still too loud, went back to default replay gain setup and works correctly. So, am i doing something wrong or did you just load the .dll and said it worked fine, because it dont work for me yet.
Edit: seems to be working now, had to restart to reset the playback setting, and i had to keep my playback settings in the default replay gain playback set. Pretty nice plugin.

You had me scared there that I might have to dig into the horrible ball of mud the source code for the plugin is. Good to hear that you got it working.

For the half dozen users this component has: it's now updated to the new preferences page system of 1.0 in 0.1.3.

Thank you very much Zao!
Although I don't see the settings page that often, it's more of a set it and forget it component, I do find this component very usefull.

(I'm still hoping for a something similar component for the standard crossfader dsp!)

If I were to do that (which I do not currently), I would do it much like my eqsplit component.
That component is a DSP that contains several Equalizer DSPs. It splits the audio into several channels, feeds it through the respective equalizer and re-merges it again.

A conditional crossfader would remember the current playback order and bypass the contained crossfader DSP when appropriate.

Great plugin! I'm always forgetting to switch replaygain mode back to album from track after using shuffle!

Thanks!

Feature suggestion: choose track mode or album mode based on path pattern.

(I'd like to choose track mode for my various artists folders.)

I am reviving this old topic because it is not the first time when I doubt if this plugin works. But this time I have clear evidence.
My default RG behavior is "track mode" and "apply gain and prevent clipping according to peak". But in RG Override dialog I have set that when I listen to my music in "Repeat (Playlist)" mode, then RG should be working in "album mode". This is not happening. Listening to my brand new Discogs purchase - Robert Henke's "Floating.Point" have revealed this permanently. I have set order to "Repeat (Playlist)". When "Chowning Island" ends and "Plankton" begins, then volume suddenly drops down - because "Plankton" is simply louder at certain points and thus it has smaller track RG values... Is it possible that this plugin will be repaired to still work in foobar 1.2.9 or newer?

It is not working for me either. When I change the value in the main RG option, I can see the waveforms adjust. When I make the changes with the radio buttons, nothing happens.

Fun fact - this forum unsubscribes you silently from threads that have been stalled for a year.

It's possible that the mechanism used to request replaygain mode changes is different, or an additional commit step would have helped.
It would also have helped if someone approached me with these problems instead of just venting in a thread and assuming I'm ignoring it for half a year.

Avi: This component assumes it's the only one messing with the global RG settings. It re-applies the radio buttons whenever the playback mode changes. If you change the global settings, it will not be aware of this and not apply the right one.

It will also assume that the settings left since last shutdown are the ones that are in place when starting up, so if you've got something else messing with this then, you're also doomed.

I don't know how to reproduce your problems as the descriptions and tracks mentioned are out of my reach. Does this keep happening with a vanilla installation without any weird script-based UIs and bells and whistles?

I'm trying to get familiar with the code again, but I see nothing out of the ordinary at all, nor am I aware of anything in foobar2000 that would change how something as fundamental as playlist events would be handled.

I need some proper steps to reproduce, preferably in a clean environment. State your assumptions and actions.

I did notice a volume change from track to track when RG was supposed to be using album info instead of track.

I can confirm it's because I was changing the global RG settings without changing playback order.

Just ran into the same issue. If I have RG set to "none" in foobar's output config, none is applied even though foo_rg_trn is set to album mode. Same other playback/gain modes.

Err, scratch that, it's actually working for me. For some reason I've set one mode to "none" and forgot about it...

When is this getting compatibility with Foobar2.0's Dark Mode?
Title: Re: foo_rg_trn
Post by: The Link on 2023-03-17 10:17:48
You can alternatively try this v2 compatible component by Case: foo_dsp_replaygain (https://foobar.hyv.fi/2.0/?view=foo_dsp_replaygain)
It considers playback mode, but can do a lot more than that.

None of my components have been updated to explicitly handle any dark mode yet, I prioritized getting x64 and 2.0 compatible builds out first.
