Edit Value dialog sort order

How are multiple selection files ordered in the Edit Value dialog window? They usually have the same order as the selection, but sometimes they seem to have the same order as the actual files in the windows explorer window. More seldom they appear to be totally random. I just can't figure out what the sort order is based on and I have no idea whether I can set my own preferences.

That's what I always see.

where do you select the tracks from? Playlist, album list, etc?

From a playlist, the viewer is an EsPlaylist panel. I don't know if this matters, I believe it shouldn't make a difference, anyhow the playlist is created and ordered with JScript.

I solved the problem, but did not understand how.
The playlist was prevented from being reordered by the Playlist Attributes component. I changed that setting and the order in the edit value dialog was finally the same as in the playlist viewer. But how come the order in the playlist viewer was not affected by the Playlist Attributes limitations? I'm glad I solved it, but it doesn't make sense...
