Get %Genre% + %Style% from Discogs ?

Hello,
I've been lurking here for quite a while, and did not find something (a foobar component, an external tool, a python script, ...) to do this:
- for my whole library, connect to Discogs and get Genre + Style and put them in %Genre% and %Style% in each of my music files.

Is there a way to do this ?

Thank you.

Thank you dv1989, I tried this plugin already. But windows popup, and you have to manually select the result you want / suit your album the most. I'd like something automatic...

I found too many differences in the discogs genre-info (between similar releases) for me to think of it as a reliable source. How about last.fm genres instead? I already asked the author of foo_uie_biography to implement a way to gather these, as it's almost the same he does for biographies anyway.
Can't wait for a HD-AAC encoder :P

From what I gathered here on these forums, and elsewhere, is that discogs's genres and styles are more reliable than others', especially last.fm's. Anyone can put anything on last.fm, like genre = "something I like", "mood sad", or "meh", whereas with discogs it's more "standardised" (sp?). Hence, I asked for something for Discogs, but if someone can show me something for another site, that suits me, I'd be happy

Discogs "forces" people to use those:

Sure, but what are the chances that the majority of people define a track's genre to be "meh"? The most common useless genre-tag I've found on last.fm are region-specific tags.

If you have faith in discogs, use the discogs component. I don't, no matter how standardized or how hard they try to force their users to put correct tags. It's very different how people identify a genre - on discogs there's only the submitters definition, while on last.fm there are thousands of users combined definition.

I decided to use the allmusic genre/style as they seemed the most consistent

Trying to install your python scripts.
At Refresh it tells me there is some indentation problem.

Edit: installation OK - trying

@2E7AH: a big THANK YOU for your help and your scripts. It worked on a test batch of ~15 random files

@Benji99: I'll have a look at Allmusic if you say they're good.

2E7AH, do you have a file somewhere with the last.fm script? I found one with the discogs scripts, but I couldn't for last.fm, and I always get an indent error when I try to save the script itself manually.

Many thanks... And I'll take this up in another thread if you see it fit, but I've found one problem with your scripts:

When multiple values are written to a genre or style (or whatever) your script puts a space after the semi-colon. The problem is, foobar doesn't like the space, and instead of appearing in two places in facets or another viewer, the Style or Genre with multiple fields will appear as:

Ambient; Modern Classical; Experimental

etc.

Would it be difficult to edit the script to not include these spaces? I could do it myself if you don't want to edit/upload any actual files.

It's not possible from within script
Select your files, go to properties and select split values
