Columns UI - Playlist Switcher settings

What the description says.

I've been having issues at random with Columns UI suddenly removing a ton of playlists from the playlist switcher, leaving me to re-arrange and re-add playlists all over again. So I was wondering if it was possible to save a backup file of the playlist switcher settings so that if this happens again I can just reload my last backup and get all my playlists back in that panel?

Will I have to save all the playlists individually(with "save all") as actual playlist files and then re-add and arrange them over again into the switcher when this happens or is there a way to save the whole arrangement, say, as a theme file or something? If not, how are the playlists saved into Columns UI after I've closed foobar? Obviously the switcher settings are being saved SOMEwhere, so maybe I can back them up somehow. Exporting the FCL doesn't seem to do it, it exports everything else.

I've been unable to find info on this after much googling and forum searching, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!!

If you are missing playlists in the CUI's playlist switcher the reason is that you did remove this playlists, apparently unintended.

Use Yirkha's Autosave & Autobackup to backup all foobar settings, including your playlists.

Columns UI saves its settings in the file foobar2000\configuration\foo_ui_columns.dll.cfg (since f2k >= v1.0) but this doesn't play a role in your case.

Ahhh, I don't remember deleting the playlists but perhaps I'm doing something I'm not realizing.
Thanks, I'll try what you linked, it seems like it'll be my savior in this case.

Are you sometimes accidentally middle-clicking?

If so please check your setting in Preferences/Display/Columns UI/Playlist switcher -> "Middle click deletes playlists" (tab "General").

With this option ticked you will also delete your playlists by middle-clicking on a playlist's tab.

Nope, I've had that that disabled from the start. My playlist switcher on rare occasions(it's only happened 3 times and I've used foobar for years) will just suddenly lose over half its content upon starting up fb2k. That's why I figured maybe I should be backing up the playlists because fb2k is having trouble keeping them saved.

No matter, I'm not all that concerned about the why, just how I can keep my stuff saved for recovery.

Okay. It could be a good idea though, to check your hard-disk for bad sectors. If foobar is properly closed you shouldn't lose any data.

Good luck.

I think this (thread) is similar to my problem -- I do not normally need to ask such a simple question as this, and I did read the Help (and this forum)! but here goes:  I am just listening to a couple of different radio stations. I have not even added my own MP3 music collection yet.

Each time I open foobar, only one radio station  playlist(?) appears (the most recent one).  I just would like them all (3 or 4!) to display, so I can select the station to listen to.  (This *did* work, at first.)

I cannot find this in the Help or the UI config.  (I do not have the middle-click problem noted above. Nor am I deleting. Nor bad sectors.)
- thanks in advance

P.S. - I just noticed the sub-sub-forum head: I'm not aware of this being a 3rd-party plug-in?!  I am just running foobar 2000 (on Win XP). Very simple.

TheClamkinator,

have you Set "Enqueue" as the default action ticked or unticked (Preferences -> Shell Integration)? Also the option Always send new files to playlist: might be worth looking at.

Do you have several playlists, so that the radio stations you are missing could be in another playlist which you are not aware of? We both are using Windows XP, but on my system nothing disappears, neither radio stations nor local tracks.

There are two third party plugins (Remove played files and its successor, Playlist Attributes) which allow to remove played files automatically from the playlist, but this happens immediately, so you would realize the removal before you close foobar. If you should use (one of) them: disable the automatic removal in foobar's Playback menu.

Does this help you?

Robertina,

Thank you for responding!
I selected  Set "Enqueue" as the default action
and  Always send new files to playlist:

Success--all stations display!

I didn't search for the plug-ins, but I might add them in the future. Thanks again.
