foobar crashing alot

Yo,

I've recently got a new desktop and so had to reinstall my foobar, which meant going through the whole thing of finding components and importing themes appropriately.  I've settled with br3tt's xchange skin for now (it looks nice), but have recently been getting a lot of crashes.  The thing would just sometimes freeze up without warning when it skips to a next track.

I've run the troubleshooting thing that appears when I restart foobar after a crash, which shows:

[blockquote]The following components found on your system are known to be problematic and should be either uninstalled or updated to their latest versions:

foo_chronflow.dll : Chronial's Coverflow
Reason: Repeated crash reports; component no longer under development.

foo_uie_vis_channel_spectrum.dll : Channel Spectrum panel 0.17.2
Reason: Repeated crash reports, division by zero bug.
Download the latest version...

foo_uie_explorer.dll : Explorer Tree 1.04.7c
Reason: Repeated crash reports.
Download the latest version...

foo_uie_graphical_browser.dll : Graphical Browser rev015
Reason: Repeated crash reports.

foo_uie_library_tree.dll : Library Tree 0.3.4.3
Reason: Repeated crash reports.
Download the latest version...

foo_uie_lyrics2.dll : Lyric Show Panel 2 (all versions)
Reason: Repeated crash / deadlock reports.[/blockquote]

Should I update them?  I'm worried that xchange might not work with newer versions of certain components though.  And some of them don't even have updates.

For further clarification, I'm using windows 7 64-bit with 2.66 i5 and 4gb of ram.  I don't think it's a hardware issue.

Also, here's a screenshot of the components currently installed:

either upgrade those plugins or remove them and report back.
Who are you and how did you get in here ?

i've never had any problems with graphical browser or library tree so i think you're safe to keep those. but lyrics & chronflow are probably the worst offenders so i'd remove those first. i'm not sure about the others.

The freeze is a problem from the lyrics2 component. Remove the component

Often crashy components are written and/or never fixed because crashes are only trigger on certain hardware configurations/driver versions/Operating systems, and the component author doesn't have the aptitude or resources or simply care enough to troubleshoot something they can't reproduce on their own machine(s).

So unless you are 100% certain the OP is using the exact same everything as you, Please do not recommend broken components; consider this a sort of unofficial warning.

It's pretty bold (read: naïve) of you to suggest that components that are marked problematic in the troubleshooter are not actually problematic.

OP: you need to update to the latest versions of those that you can and remove the other components. Or just live with the crashes if a "skin" is really that important to you. Personally, I'd reexamine my priorities if that is your conclusion.

I checked with the skin creator and he said foo_uie_lyrics2.dll was probably the biggest suspect.  Removed it and will let you guys know soon.

Alright.  Removed foo_uie_lyrics2.dll and managed to run foobar non-stop the entire day without it crashing once.  I think that solved the problem.  I'm not sure if the component is faulty or not, but just putting it out there that removing it solved the problem.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. =]
