OS X: possible to code component that auto resamples all output audio?
There are a couple of media players  for OSX doing automatic sample rate switching.
Just like in Win it is possible in OSX.

On OSX you have to provide the functionality manually on the application layer. Windows can provide this automatically. I didn't claim that the actual end-user functionality is significantly different on both systems.

Just how difficult is it to code a little component that does this on a system-wide level? Prosoft's Hear shows that one can have a sound processor that applies to all sound output, so unless that sits somewhere where the content's sampling rate is no longer of any meaning, it ought to be possible to provoke a change, no?
