Any Plans On A Foobar Media Player For Android And/Or iOS?

Are there any plans on making a modified version of foobar2000 for Android and/or iOS?

What's wrong with the countless player apps for android devices? Poweramp f.e. gives you: gapless playback, replaygain support, support of lossless files, cue-sheet handling and so on.

foobar2000 has been strictly Windows software for some time, and it uses many features offered by modern versions of Windows NT. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for iOS or Android versions right now.
It's only audiophile if it's inconvenient.

http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/

gapless playback, multiformat support, resampling, transcoding etc etc.
Yeah... too bad the landscape on iOS is so depressing. There's still not an option for replaygain support, for instance.

That's no logic! Every player is a unique creature with its own + points. I think the time has come for foobar to go Android (like VLC player).

Being able to synchronise playlists/playcounts/ratings to an Android player (like foo_dop to iPod) would be very cool indeed.

There's a lot wrong with Poweramp. I run into a number of bugs (e.g., cover art of ogg doesn't display, library updates fail to auto-update after writing tracks to music folder via wifi, etc.).

I think it may be overly optimistic to think that a request-thread such as this one will push foobar devs to port their software to android. be that as it may, the android players i've seen aren't nearly as polished as foobar is on the desktop. so i think there are significant gaps to fill in the market for android music players.

And why should foobar2000, an application that has been specifically developed and optimized for the Windows platform, fill these gaps? I would rather put my hopes on one of the existing players for Android, since it is much easier for them to fix their bugs and introduce missing features, than having foobar2000 ported to Android (which would basically mean creating a new foobar2000-like player from scratch).
Remember that mobile platforms require completely different design concepts and have their own programming interfaces, so it doesn't really make that much sense to port a desktop app (or, in other words, a good desktop app probably won't make a good mobile app, without changing it substantially).

Sorry, but these constant reminders seem to be futile. Peter and co. are well aware of the demand. The reason that they have not acquiesced to it is the same as ever.

Hey, look, someone has already written the rest of the post for me!
foobar2000's development is tied very closely to the win32 APIs that are provided by Windows. Programing foobar2000 on different platforms would basically require writing entirely new applications for those platforms.

It's just not going to happen for the same reasons it has never happened. Feel free to search for "linux" "foobar" "Mac" "win32" "OS X" "Apple" or some combination thereof to read more threads talking about this if you're really interested.
