Plextor PX-L890UE for CD burning

Hello, all. Just ordered a Plextor PX-L890 external burner to replace my Iomega Super DVD Writer. 

Has anyone had an experience with the PX-L890? I know Plextor has rebadged Lite-On machines for several years, so perhaps someone can offer an update on how these have performed in the last two years or so.

My setup:
Music stored on HP laptop, purchased new in 2007. Windows XP - Service Pack 3
Nero 8 Essentials for burning
Currently I use my Iomega for burning only; I rip with the laptop's Acer drive. When I get the Plextor, I intend to both rip and burn with that drive.
Most of my music files are WMA @ 192 kpbs
Use Verbatim CD-Rs, typically Digital Vinyl on discs given to others, Shiny Silver for myself

Hmm. Nobody has one of these, eh? Didn't find anything on ClubMyce, either. Oh well. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

If your burns play fine on what ever your trying to play it on then there is nothing more to worry about.

Or am i missing something?

Not all users are satisfied with the performance of the Plextor PX-L890UE (external version) or with the PX-L890SA (internal version).
Some Audio CD's are not recognized AT ALL. There seems to be no fix yet. Complainers feel Plextor techn. dept. seems to let them down.

I wasn't worried. I initially posted just to see if anyone else had any experience with the Plextor PX-L890UE. Subsequently it arrived, and I tried it out for the first time. It seems fine.

Well, the L890 seems to burn CDs reasonably well, but on this unit the Lightscribe function doesn't work. After being walked through various solutions, I keep getting the same error message saying that the drive has lost communication with my laptop.

Given Amazon's excellent return policy, I'm just not going to play games with this thing. I'm going to get a refund, and buy the LG GE24LU20 that has been recommended to me.
