how to burn the DTS file to CD and keep the 5.1 channels

I am using foobar2000 ver 1.0 to enjoy the DTS music I downloaded, the quality is good but my desktop has two speakers only, I could not enjoy the fantastic 5.1 channels effects. so I want to burn it to a CD and play the CD by my high quality SONY home theater. with excellent 5.1 channel speakers.  the DVD player in the SONY home theater does support DTS format.

in the Foobar2000, I opened the DTS file ( there is CUE file together with the DTS) and right click on the file, select "convert"-->"write to audio CD" command, in the new pop up window, there are 4 check boxes.  "replaygain processing", "DSP processing","Dither" and "Burn gaplessly" . here i checked  "DSP processing" and "Burn gaplessly" only. Is the selection correct? As I am quite new to this software, can anybody tell me that what else I should select in the sub menu after I checked the "DSP processing" ???
What DSP should I add to the "active DSP" window and the sequence to make sure the  CD after burn is a real 5.1 channel DTS supported CD? I used to burn by selecting some DSPs but I find that there are 2 channels in the CD only.

Please advice.

thanks a lot!!!!

That's not possible, audio CDs support only 2 channels.

For this to work you cannot alter the bitstream in any way: no ReplayGain, no DSP, no dithering, no bit depth changes, nothing. Disable *everything* and then it should work.

Oh, I forgot something: it will only work if you have a 44.1 kHz DTS file. If it's 48 kHz then you're out of luck and there's nothing you can do. You cannot convert it to the proper rate without destroying the bitstream. I'm also assuming that the audio connection from your DVD player to your home theater is digital (coax or optical/toslink), analog won't work.

CD audio is stereo. It does not support 5.1 surround.

CD audio is stereo. It does not support 5.1 surround.

Perhaps there might be a component to burn DTS-DVD, but it's not on the components page at the foobar website, and I doubt it exists.

I stand corrected, after some further research. I was under the interesting impression that DTS required a DVD.

Can Foobar play DTS 5.1 CDs?

I think so, using the DTS DSP.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Take empty CD and burn DTS files as data disc. That's all. But I am not sure if your Sony supports playing DTS CD - in is not the same as playing DVD with DTS sound.  Check your player if it supports audio formats as SACD or DVDA. If yes, it probably can play DTS CD too. If there is no support, you mast buy something another.

I'm pretty sure the only thing you need is to output bit-perfect 16-bit 44.1 kHz stereo LPCM, so if you can do that you should be all set even with a Redbook CD.

He could burn the DTS files as .WAV in a data CD/DVD, but why bother? I mean, the way this works is that 16-bit, 44.1 kHz DTS data is indistinguishable from normal PCM (that's why if you play in a system that does not recognize the DTS data you will get only noise) and the receiver has special circuitry to detect it. The key is to send the bitstream correctly to the receiver, it doesn't really matter if it is on a .WAV file in a data disc or in a PCM track in a red book (audio) CD; since red book is supported by anything but data CDs are not, I don't see any advantage whatsoever of burning a data disc. If it doesn't work as red book it won't work as data, period.

Don not use Foobar to burn DTS CD's. If you have an image file like ex: coldplay-viva la vida.DTS .wav  you can easily use ImgBurn , a free download, to do the job.

You will be able to burn a DTS 5.1 CD if the image is actually 5.1 DTS. check this link :
