Cannot play my TAK files in foobar

I was going to switch from FLAC to TAK, it should be easy for me to do but I get an error when I try and play back any TAK files I make. The error I get is "Unable to open item for playback (Undecodable.):"

I'm using TAK v1.1.1 and TAK decoder 0.4.2. I use these encoder settings in foobar...  -e -pMax -ihs - %d

Can't see what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

Update tak_deco_lib.dll in foobar2000 folder.

Hi Duck, in the TAK1.1.1.zip archive that you downloaded you will find a folder called "Deco_Lib". This folder contains the updated decoder dll required for the new v1.1.1 files. Just use the "tak_deco_lib.dll" file from this folder to replace your older v0.4.2 decoder (in your foobar executible folder) and all will be well.

BTW. The other foobar file in the plugin folder (footak or whatever, I cant think off hand what it was called) doesn't need updating.

Edit: Ok just checked the "component" file and it's called foo_input_tak.dll. Yeah that one doesn't need updating ok.

Sorry to bump this but I have the same problem.

I have TAK 1.1.1, have the DLLs in the proper locations, and I can see info about a TAK file when I view properties-general with foobar.
When I try to play any TAK file, I get the same error as the OP.

There has never been any other version of TAK on this system.

Ideas?

How did you install the TAK foobar plugin?

I didn't have TAK in my foobar2k installation at first, but I installed it just fine.

What I did was go to foobar2k's 3rd party plugin site and download the foo_input_tak plugin v 0.4.2.

It's located at:    http://fb2k.org/show.php?id=222

This download is for Foobar 2000 versions 0.9.5.x or 0.9.6.x.  If you have an older version of Foobar 2000 (i.e. Foobar 0.9.4.5 ) then you need to get the older version of the TAK foobar plugin v 0.3.4, located at

http://foosion.foobar2000.org/components/?...p;version=0.3.4

Open the downloaded ZIP file.

Extract the "foo_input_tak.dll" file into foobar2000's components folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\Foobar2000\components )

Download the latest TAK 1.1.1 ZIP archive.

Extract the "tak_deco_lib.dll" file into foobar2000's main directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Foobar2000 )

Extract the "tak.ico" file into foobar2000's icons directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Foobar2000\icons )

Start up foobar2000 and it should work just fine with TAK files.

Ahhhh! Thank you for making me look.
I had the tak_deco_lib from foo_input_tak instead of the one from the TAK 1.1.1 zip

Once I used the proper DLL, all is well.

There may be good reason to include the old version with foo_input package, but something in the changelog or a readme would be nice for those of us who can't tell different file sizes and dates...

Foobar2000 older version(0.8.x) could use foobar2000 plugin version 0.4.2 + TAK decode 1.1.0
Foobar2000 0.8.x with TAK decode 1.1.1 could not play the latest(1.1.1) tak file not to be contained search table.

Hello!! I am currently having the same problem as the original post "Unable to open item for playback (Undecodable.):" The funny thing is, I am able to play one of my tak files (takfile1) without any problems. But when I tried to launch tracks from (takfile2), the list of error came out as such :

Unable to open item for playback (Undecodable.):
"C:\Users\...(takfile2).tak" / index: 1

Unable to open item for playback (Undecodable.):
"C:\Users\...(takfile2).tak" / index: 2

Unable to open item for playback (Undecodable.):
"C:\Users\...(takfile2).tak" / index: 3
                            .
                            .
                            .
and so forth..
Just wondering if there is a solution for this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Note: (takfile1) and (takfile2) are just variables.

Hey it worked !!
For some reason, my (takfile2) did not work yesterday even after following the procedures. Before posting I tried WonderSlug's guide once more and now both my tak files are working fine

Thanks for the quick reply shakey_snake or I would still be waiting patiently for someone else who would bother to reply.
And also WonderSlug for his complete tak guide that I'm sure, many would find useful.
