Hello -

There's an album I wish to buy that can only be found on CDbaby for $20, or it's also available on Rhapsody.com for only $7. 

I'm pretty sure they encode all their MP3's as CBR 256... but my question is does anyone know what encoder they use?!  I don't want to pay $7 for a digital CD that's encoded with the L3nc encoder (or however you spell it).  I'm really finicky with mp3's (as anyone would know by my posts).  Any guesses?

I thought they were encoded using the FhG mp3 encoder which, at such a high bitrate setting, will more than likely produce results that are audibly on par with Lame.  Someone made a post not too long ago discussing Rhapsody's mp3 service.  Did you check the Amazon mp3 store?  You are guaranteed having one of these settings/encoders for mp3 files downloaded from them: FhG at 256kbps CBR, Lame 3.91 at 256kbps CBR, Lame 3.97 at -V 0, or Lame 3.98.2 at abr 256.
