Upgraded to 0.9.6 and all ratings are gone

I just upgraded to 0.9.6 from 0.9.5.6. I have Windows installed on my C: partition and fb2k installed on my D: partition, but all my default Windows directories (like %APPDATA%) still point to the C: partition.  I installed the new version on top of the old installation, as I have every time I've upgraded in the past.

I'm using Vista with all updates/current drivers/etc.

All of my files were rating with the "Playback Statistics -> Rating -> X" context menu.

Upgraded to 0.9.6 and all ratings are gone

With me is almost the same. I have only the ratings (and play_count) that were stored in the files. All the statistics that were in the database are gone.
I already downgraded to 0.9.5.6 but it's the same. I guess that the database was rewrited.

0.9.6 upgrade process was specifically made to retain playback statistics - first the "Please wait, importing your Media Library" dialog appears, all files are re-added to the ML, and foo_playcount then thinks nothing has changed.

It is also quite improbable that that crash has caused this. It was a 3rd party component foo_RMX which caused it and, besides, when fb2k crashes, no configuration files are usually overwritten.

All I can think of is that you have used different file paths in the past, like 8.3 "short" filenames.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

All my music was originally added to my library using the File menu. The music is still in the same place on my drive and all the file paths look just the same as they did before upgrading.

That crash I posted happened immediately after the dialog "Importing your library" popped up, and seemed to be related to the installation. So the crash had nothing to do with upgrading, but it happened at exactly the wrong moment I think.

This is what I did:

Download the new version from foobar. Downloaded the last version from foo_playcount. Installed it like always. foobar says "importing your media library". Everything seems fine, but my playlists are not so full. It didn't crashed. Only the files that have %rating", "first_played" etc in the tags are showed. All the others are vanished from the database. For example an album that I listened today (and was in my library for a long time) now appears as added today and has no statistics.Oh well. Collecting them again!!

Same happened to me with 0.9.6 and foo_playcount. And in my case, I have everything on C: and there was no crash. Well, I made a backup of the statistics, so I didn't lose anything. However, a smooth upgrade is something different...

Problem confirmed, thanks for reporting. For now, you can deal with this problem by backing up your PlaybackStatistics.dat file before or during the first foobar2000 v0.9.6 run, closing foobar2000 then reverting the statistics file to the old version.
This problem will be fixed in the next foobar2000 update.

Now it's too late for me  My bad. I never made a backup from PlaybackSatistics. From now on I will make it and I also write the statistics to the files.
