Gapless DVD-Audio authoring

Hi... Experimenting with DVD-Audio, as a great and funny way to compile many records from the same artist on the same disc.

I am experimenting with WaveLab, a very nice piece of software.
I have a question:

I've authored a couple of DVD-A with gapless mode between tracks (live material). And although I see no pre-gaps in the waves of the authoring program, nor any change in the envelope, there is a very small gap occuring in play-back.

My question would be: is this a limit in the DVD-Audio mode? Or in the software (I see no mention of that in the documentation)?

Or  maybe it is my hardware, which is an Oppo 981.

I'd like to know before I begin authoring some Pink Floyd compilations.  You don't want gaps there.

I suspect is the hardware limitation. Try creating single album images split by chapters and see if it works!

I've never authored an audio DVD, but a video DVD is (optionally) divided into titles and chapters.  Each title is continuous and there is no gap between chapter's, because the chapter-point is just a "marker".  However, there is a gap between titles.

If you join the tracks together as one big audio file, you may be able to author the DVD as one title.  But, there are a couple of limitations.  Regular WAV files are limited to 2GB, and a (video) DVD is limited to 99 titles, and 99 chapters-per-title.  But, I don't know if the title/chapter limits apply to audio DVDs, or if the concept of title/chapter even applies with audio DVD authoring.

Folks interested in DVD-A (and DVD-Hybrid) authoring should also check out the DVD audio Tools project....

I've read somewhere that new version of Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo has cue file import feature. If that means that it offers gapless playback, i don't know. Demo version can burn 5 disks or work for 30 days, depends on what you finish first. I've used it for burning three disks, but the songs were separate. It supports wav, mp3 and FLAC, I think wma and ogg, but I am not sure.

A CUE file with an entire title, generated from a cue file with many tracks/one album,  seems to be the most elegant solution.
CUEtOOLS does just that. Very quickly.

The problem was me apparently; WaveLab does automatic fade/in/fade-out that you have to defeat; the rules for pre-gaps are unclear and not very inuitive (it tends to insert mini-gaps everywhere for reasons I still ignore ); you have to be extra-careful every steps of the way.

I've used Wavelab to DVD-Audio discs about 2 years ago.  I still have my notes.  This is for Wavelab 5.01.
From the main menu i select File>New>Audio Montage>48Khz (you can really select something different).  An Audio Montage window will open.  Select Mode from the Edit tab.  Select DVD-Audio.

Now go to the DVD-A tab.  Check Don't change first pause.  Set Pause before tracks to zero and click Apply.  I believe that should be it.  I messed around with this around 3 hours before I was able to make a DVD-Audio disc with no gaps.  It can also depend on your DVD player.  The first player I had still put small gaps between the tracks.  I bought a new player which fixed the problem.  I hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  I might be able to recall something I left out.
