Converting FLAC to MP3 keeping embedded art

After a few days of exhaustive searching, I've come across quite a few people with a similar issue, but no real clear description of a solution.  I am about to craft a batch file that pieces together a few command line apps to do it, but wanted to make a quick post to see if anyone else had really solved the issue.

I use an iPhone as a portable player, but have all of my CDs ripped to FLAC files on my hard drive, each with album art embedded.  I prefer to not let iTunes come anywhere near my files, and so I have a iPhoneSync directory where I copy things to that I want to listen to.  It works nicely, however, foobar2000 doesn't bring the embedded album artwork over when doing a FLAC to MP3 conversion.  dbPowerAmp does, but screws up the %lyrics% tag.

I would be open to any solution, even an m4a lossless file, since the lossy files just get deleted when I am done with them on my portable.  I really just want something that I can use to copy the files, lyrics, tags, and embedded artwork, over to another directory in a format that the iPhone uses?

Anyone else solved this, or should I roll my own and share it with the community?

I've been looking for the same answer, though I eventually settled on DBPoweramp.  I don't have lyrics embedded, so I didn't have that problem.

I did actually come to the same conclusion.  In order to get both the album art and the lyrics to transfer properly, I had to use the LAME mp3 plugin and the ID3 DSP plugin....which set me back about $30.  I made a batch file that calls the dbPoweramp command line utility to take a folder full of FLACs and create mp3s in my iPhoneSync folder....thus allowing me to never let iTunes come anywhere near my actual music files.  I can run that batch file from foo_run so I'm really sending stuff to my portable by browsing through the foobar database.

It's a little contrived, as I'd rather have foobar be able to natively write embedded images as easily as it syncs tags when doing a convert...but that looks like it's for a future wish list.
