Gapless problem

Greetings,

I have tried both the latest iTunes and NeroAAC to encode APE files.  Both
results in gaps during playback on my 1st Gen Nano.

My steps:
Convert APE to WAV

Import WAV into iTunes
Convert to AAC
Selected resulting files and enabled Gapless (via info window)

Used the same WAV files in EAC with NeroAAC and then
imported files into iTunes.
Selected resulting files and enabled Gapless (via info window)

Am I doing something wrong?  Is it related to using WAV files
versus ripping straight from a CD?

Thanks!
