I need a command-line based mp3pro encoder

Hi,

I'm new to the mp3pro world. Can someone recommend a good mp3pro encoder that can be run and configured from the command like, just like LAME can?

I need to batch encode things on a schedule so a GUI-only app won't work.

Thanks,

Jon

i doubt there is a commandline encoder, anyways why would you use mp3pro ?

I need mp3-compatible files that will play on standard hardware players, AND i need good encoding at 64kbps -- The general concensus is for me to use mp3pro, now i just need a cli encoder

why don't u use mp3 then, standard players will play at 22kHz without the SBR part so its going to be even worse!

Hmm, I think you might use the Thomson demo encoder/player for this purpose perhaps... When I checked the registered MIME types in Windows 95 Explorer recently, I found a command line entry for this codec that would enable a direct encoding of a WAV file (MIME type "audio/aiff" or file type "WAV audio")with the right mouse button:

"C:\PROGRAMME\THOMSON MP3PRO AUDIO PLAYER\MP3PROPLAYER.EXE" /ENCODE "%L"

Maybe you can change this to your needs, or someone else with batch programming skills...

By the way, I also think mp3PRO is the best solution for recording FM radio broadcasts with mainly speech content. It will sound much better than any MP3 or Vorbis encoding with a true mp3PRO player, and the missing high frequencies on a standard MP3 player (backwards compatibility) will not sound much worse than a standard MP3 file at 64 kbps.

Hardware support for mp3PRO playback already exists in a new DVD player from RCA and the mc-i200 Streamium from Philips and was already announced for last Christmas in the RCA Lyra portables, so it will be available for them sooner or later, too.

I don't remember well but I think that you can do batch-encodes to mp3PRO format using the latest WaveLab version from Steinberg (www.steinberg.net)
Quite expensive (and absolutely amazing) program , BTW , unless you accidentally download it while sleepwalking.

Not sure about batch-encoding to mp3PRO with Cool Edit Pro 2 either , but it is highly probable.Surf to www.syntrillium.com and check for yourself!
