Compressing/Encoding MP3 to custom size

Hi,

I'm looking for a program that can compress or encode MP3s to a custom file size instead of setting other variables (bitrate, frequency, etc).  Any ideas about how this can be done.  I have a series of audio files (speech) that are rather large that I'd like to have all the same file size and have the quality based on that standard file size.

Any leads are appreciated....

Thanks,

Kevin

Calculate what bitrate you need for achieving the target size for each file, and use ABR.

according to the Lame's long help... there is a command line parameter that's --comp <arg> and it's described as "choose bitrate to achieve compression ratio of <arg>".. maybe that would be helpful?
