Need to set up 5.1 sound with cable set top box w/ only 3 RCA jacks

Hi,

I don't know a whole lot about audio, but I'm hoping someone can help me.  I have a Phillips surround sound set up but the set top box I want to hook it up to only has 3 RCA jack inputs/outputs.  I know--get a new box right?  Unfortunately this box is part of a 2-room DVR system that I cannot bear to part with. I'm hoping there is some kind of converter or adapter that would allow me to have pseudo surround sound with the box.

Are the three jacks Video, Audio Left and Audio Right?
Yellow, White and Red?

If so, feed the yellow into your display and the White/Red into any surround receiver/processor that does Dolby Pro Logic. (DPL)

There is also Dolby prologic II (DPLII) wich is miles ahead of the regular prologic.

There are other matrix surround formats (takes 2chs and outputs more) such as Circle Surround and Logic &. However DPL/DPLII are much more common.
